In 1985 Windows released its first OS, Windows 1.01
Media size: Five 360 KB 5.25 inch floppy disks
Installed size: Less than 1 MByte
Usability: Small: no icons for executable programs, no program groups, no real multitasking, but better than MS-DOS only

Sure.
I remember having a xt/at style computer with a big "turbo" button on the front- that button would kick the CPU into a overdrive, a whopping 7 point something Mhz!
Instead of writing term papers I'd play Sid Meir's Pirates! in glorious CGA! Not just black and white, but even Magenta and Cyan too!
And the first mouse, wow!
Size of a brick with one button on it.
You realize, of course, that this thread is the contemporary equivalent of saying "Young fella, in my day we walked 5 miles to school- even in blizzards- and we liked it that way!" |

True enough, but it could also be seen as showing how far we've gone with computers in only 20 years. |

| I remember being in Grade 2 in Winnepeg and having our class hauled off for computer training on these archaic old school Macs... all I remember is typing in RUN to make programs work... |
