Any ideas of what day(s)?
Anybody thinking about a roadtrip? Considering how divided the posters are, we could all go together and create a protest and counter protest there. |

The article says Wednesday. This seems correct to me as a co-worker said she was worried about some kind of demonstration that was slated to occur at City Hall in Busan on that day...supposed to be about 20,000 people or something. Have to wait and see what comes of it. Maybe she said Thursday? Wouldn't surprise me if the organizers screwed somethin up...
Sorry, re-read the article. Says Wednesday in Japan. Maybe the Thursday thing is right? Bush might rather kill two birds on the same day...hmmmm. |

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention something. My Korean co-worker said that she was worried because the demonstration may bring shame to Korea. I was trying to reason with her and understand why she stated what she did. I brought up the recent French rioting which people would see as a social issue that France has to deal with and which can be understood, but not necessarily condoned. I was trying to ask her what exactly they were going to be protesting but she didn't seem to know. I was wondering if it had something to do with Koreans perception that Korea was being treated unfairly in the Asia-Pacific side of things or if they were going to be protesting against some of Noh's policies or something, but now I know why they're going...and all the cameras will be on...and I'm starting to understand her worry. I have the day off, but I'll be staying put at home even though City Hall really isn't that far away. Just...in...case... |

I will counter your counter-protest protest with a protest, as I must protest to being counter to your counter protest protest position and....err...

After his visit to Japan, I've heard Bush will be in Kyungju, east of Daegu, Thursday for some energy summit then on to Busan Friday and Saturday this week.
One of my students mentioned that the U.S. delegation had rented an entire 5-star Busan hotel for the duration of the meeting.

No.
You made a grave mistake, my friend. I happen to be friends with a group who is very passionate about fighting the counter-protest-protest-protest phenomenon. I hope you're ready to meet a world of hurt when they get their own counter-protest-protest-protest-protest together.
PS) Korea should be ashamed of having sent troops to Iraq, and being so self-conscious about what the US thinks about them. |

Okay, I've lost count here, what am I protesting against...
Seriously though, what exactly are the protests about here? Is it a general "Bushie bad!", "Capitalism bad!" and people who disagree? Or is it more of a Koreans against Korean policy kind of thing? Do you think it will be primarily Korean protesters, or will it have a more "international" feel to it (perhaps similar to WTO protests, but on a smaller scale?) |

Whatever the reasons of the protestors, if I were non-Korean I would stay well away from any Korean demonstration against Bush. Unless you're fluent enough to yell in Korean "but I agree with what you're protesting for and I'm from Iceland" as you're being beaten.
