Would anyone be interested in joinging a knitting group? My roommate and I both love knitting and would like to start a group that meets semi-regularly. If you don't know how to knit, we can teach you. Or, if you just want to hang out, have a few drinks, and meet some new people, that's fine too. We live in Itaewon and would be available to host an initial, or regular get-together. Write back if you're interested! |

I can knit...I just can't cast on or off (or whatever it's called). As a result, I have a scarf that is about 9 feet long, maybe more, but it's stranded at my mom's and winter is coming.
Could any of you female-type persons help me get another one started/stopped? |

I'm totally into optimizing my time spent on public transit. I listen to downloaded audiobooks to keep up on my reading, but yeah, throwing in knitting too would be kick-ass!
Will try to figure out if I have any time - would this be only weekends? |

I believe there's already a club that meets at "Our Place" in Itaewon on Sunday mornings. I've met a couple of the gals, and I think I saw an ad for them in the K-Scene classifieds.
By the way, if you want to cast off, it's dead easy. Knit two. Take the first stitch, and pick it up and over the one you just knitted, off the end of the needle. Now you have only one stitch on the needle. Knit one more, and do the same thing: bringing the former stitch over the latter, off the end of the needle. Repeat, until the end of the row. Then swathe yourself with your 9-foot scarf.
This might help

And if it doesn't try googling "casting off" or "binding off." |

|

Hey guys,
So here`s the info about the stitchnbitch club:
StitchnBitch is happening this Sunday.
Here are the details, and a map to the Orange Tree is attached.
2.30 pm
Sunday, November 6th
The Orange Tree, Haebangchon (directions below)
http://seoulsnb.blogspot.com
--------
Directions to the Orange Tree
1. Catch the subway to Noksapyeong Station, one down from Itaewon on the brown line
2. Take exit 2 and walk straight down the hill.
3. You'll see a wall of kimchi pots on the left. Take the road to the left.
4. Walk up past the houses for about 5 mins until you reach some shops.
5. The Orange Tree is on the right side, with a bright orange sign.
6. Take the stairs to the second floor.
There's also a bus stop (Haebangchon) very close by, so it might be easier to catch a bus. It's just after Namsan-3-tunnel.
You can find out on the bus map http://english.seoul.go.kr/residents/transport/trans_05bus_01.html
ok- well i hope that you`ll all be there! |

Dongdaemun is your knitting haven, Sarah. Not Dongdaemun Stadium but Dongdaemun proper. There is this huge building that sells fabric and the basement has stall after stall that sells yarns, books, needles and the works! |

hey sarah-
I can bring some extra stuff on sunday if you just want to practice and learn. I went to the Dongdaemun market a couple of weeks ago and bought way too much wool, so you're free to use some. I'll bring extra needles on sunday too.
see you then! |

Anyone know anything about crocheting?
Is this knitting only? Can I come if I crochet? (well, if I'm trying to...).
There not some underground war between the knitters and the crocheters, is there?
crocheters...is that a word? Haha, I'd love to come. Won't make it this sunday, but don't count me out for the next ones. |

i crochet! i only know one basic type, but i've gotten quite a lot of compliments on my scarves...maybe because they are completely oversized and fluffy...
anyway, i've heard from many koreans that dongdaemun is the place to buy yarn, but none can give me directions! can anyone help give some good ones as well as market hours?
thanks in advance |
