A health check might take 20mins if you're lucky, it depends on your situation, mine took about 2 1/2 hours, plus another 3 hours travelling time, and cost W58,000.
It doesn't sound to me like the public school is trying to scam you, they just sound typically useless with paperwork, and want everything done yesterday.

...well yes...they do take blood and urine samples...and you don't sound like you are too awful concerned about them learning of your cootees and butt weasels or having inhaled some smoke from the ojinga anju at the ice bar...however the time to get your arse in gear...and as another so eloquently put it ' thumb out' of it...is here..

...I had my check done at a Gu/Gov't health office and it was less than 10,000 Won for the works...took 2 days for results...just told them I was in need of the full deal for my elementary teaching position...all public schools need this done..and they knew exactly what I needed...

...but you seem to be waiting on or stuck in Korean business time - last minute - super duper late - or no show for the meeting - those kind of standards, and blahblah blabbing here are not going to get your cash any closer to the bank...

...remember your mom's advice..."clean yer ears...in and behind, wash your neck, and for godsakes put on clean undies and socks because you don't want to embarass yer ma showing up like a dirty lad to the doc's shop"...attaboy...now mov it...
