When I was in 3rd grade, our teacher, Miss Hugo taught us spelling rules. One day we covered the rules pertaining to the letter Q. She told us that whenever we used the letter Q we always had to have a "u" right after the "Q" as in "question" or "queer" or "quandry". I saw the pattern but I saw a clause that she didn't explain. My lack of impulse control showed even then as I shouted "Iraq". "No" she said. "That doesn't count. Iraq is a foreign word". Yea OK, whatever. |
