recording capabilities.
I'm talking either
an on board mic
OR
a line in.

Much to my chagrin I found that ipod doesn't have any such feature (right?).

I want it to record live shows...my own and others.

My friend has a 20g iRiver that he's relatively impressed by.

Anyone let me in on some decent (first/second hand experience please) mp3s WITH both mic capabilities AND picture viewing.

thanks

Look into Iriver, I know my cheapy iriver has a built in mic, so it only goes to figure that the more expensive ones do as well. By the way, full recs for Iriver, they are (IN MY OPINON APPLENAUGHTS) better than ipod and much cheaper.

Most flash players I've come across have this feature, as well as FM and record from FM. Creative has one with a line-in port that allows you to record directly from, well, pretty much anything that can take a line-out...
and it's drag and drop and plugs directly into a USB port (i.e. no software, no usb cable required and you can easily copy songs FROM it without having to hack the firmware).

This would be my suggestion...

http://www.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=103326582&jaehuid=200000529

You can read the CNET review here...

Good luck... it appears this particular player has some very good recording capabilities.

iRiver H140 also records line/mic in.

The internal mic is so sensitive that it's practically useles- but it doesn't cost much to get a mic to plug into it and gives fantastic quality. Actually, let me send you a PM..

Sorry my man... don't have any hands on experience with that model.

I remember learning about it off an old post from the buy and sell forum... looked it up... thought it looked pretty cool so I researched it a bit. Found the review in CNET...and remembered that it had very good audio recording possibilities.

Saw your post... thought I would share the info with you.

Good luck.

i have the iriver h340 40 gig player.
i just got in a week and a half ago. it was 279 on gmarket.co.kr.

so far, so good. i have a ton of music, audiobooks, pictures, and videos stored. i don't know what they mean by pictures loading slowly...the picture viewer is great. good quality screen, color. takes about 2-3 for each picture to display. if they mean it's slow to load photos directly into the player, i don't know because i haven't tried it yet.

haven't tried the mic yet....sorry, can't help you there.

but so far i really like it and the bad reviews i read online about being impossible to navigate....it's not that hard. and i'm not a "technical" person. i figured it out fine. i recommend it.

hahaha. yeah, i got the CD player, which is actually pretty nice. but....
then i noticed the iriver player....

i think the CDMP3 player is better than getting a small MP3 player that only holds 512 mb or something.

but i liked the idea of being able to load photos into the player. i can even watch videos and stuff.....i gave into temptation, yes.

the CD player is now the property of my husband. Laughing

You know what I would like to know about that player... could you port movies you have downloaded into it? Like from a torrent site?

Sistersarah... I think you have an experiment to conduct.
