|
|
So I'm doing job interviews all week. 99% of the interviewees are cool, but every now and then I get someone with an attitude problem. What would you do? I'm tempted to ask them whether they want the job, or not. However, I'm only there to evaluate their English skills.
Anyway, I just nail them with the hardest questions if they start acting up. Then I tell the guy in personnel that so-and-so is lippy. Try to stay impartial and all that.
Here's an example:
Me: Do you consider youself a leader?
Princess: (irritated confusion) What does "consider " mean?
Me: Are you a leader?
Her: (laughing at the absurdity of the question) Of course- I'm in charge of my own life, right?
Me: (long pause and long look with raised eyebrows) Tell me about an interesting event in your life.
Her: What?
Me: Tell me something interesting that has happened to you.
Her: (Another condescending laugh) My whole life is interesting.

| What I've usually done is just look at em long and hard, and say abruptly "thanks for your time, we're done." and instantly forget about it. |

I would shock her with a cattle prod and tie her up with barbed wire.

Some Koreans don't appreciate being interviewed by Americans. Did you all catch that one K-girl band video a while back? Man, that spoke for a lot of Koreans, that did.
Forget taking notes. Pack a mini-cassette recorder or a cheap voice recorder. |

| In Taiwan I interviewed two Kiwis and their Canadian girlfriend (1) for a job... they came in tanktops and shorts wearing their surfer jewelry. They were fresh off the boat after one year working in Korea. I thought it was pretty disrespectful. But of course we hired them. |

Man, I HATE those kinds of questions. Everytime I go into an interview I think to myself, Ok, what kinds of bull am I goint to have to spit out for these guys to hire me. Its always the same sh!te. Such questions don't mean a hill of beans and they are a waste of time. Why not ask something more substantive associated with areas of study and completed projects.
In an ideal world everyone would answer such questions with caustic retorts and incredulous guffaws. |

You ask those applicants my favorite bad interview question...
"A sphincter says what?"
The replies are fantastic. |
