(1) I recall that one incident, TUM, where you seemed to be trying to do the right thing, and I did make mention of it. But as I said, I recall much more clearly the many times when your comments went in the opposite direction ... so many more times.

(2) I've already quoted you, so I don't know why you won't respond clearly - why did you misrepresent my remarks as being opposed to people because of their political philosophies, when in fact I was opposed their - and let's be clear, YOUR - hate speech?

(3) I've seen many things posted here at Dave's that would actionable under laws back in Canada and the US, possibly GB as well - I don't agree with anti-hate speech laws, so I don't send any letters to Mr Sperling about this kind of thing, though as far as I know he could be legally liable for it and it just might endanger the site as a whole. Instead, I prefer to simply point at it and call it what it is and explain why it is hate speech and why it represents a poor use of the human mind.

And it seems you feel threatened by that.

Quote:
Seriously. I never equated the two. That was YOU making such a claim.

(4) No, sir. I t was you. In your first attack on me in this thread in which you stated that I "someone who calls for the death of fellow ESL teachers simply because he doesn't agree with their political philosophy" and thanks to the fact that you did eventually provide a link, we know that what The Bobster really thinks is odious is bigotry, not individuals who profess to politics that differ from mine.

(5) From what you have said, it seems you consider racism, homophobia and gender discrimination to be legitimate "political philosophies." I don't. I consider them warped modes of thought, and whenever I have time in my day I will "put them down."

(6) And I wonder why you don't do so as well, except in an isolated instance or two, and why you wish to defend haters instead of doing what you can to put their ideas into the dustbin of public discourse where they belong. Actually, I don't wonder about it very much - I'm pretty sure I know where your sympathies are.

numbers are mine

1. And as we can see it is far more than one incident where I "was trying to do the right thing..." (in your words) Even you used the plural "posts".

2. As we can see from the link, what hate speech did I say? As we can see from the link, I am in favour of civil unions for gays. Yeah that's "hate speech" alright. Can you find ONE unambigious statement in that entire thread that shows clearly I hate gays as you are trying to suggest? Not a statement that YOU think is hate. ONE statement that is clear to all. It is rather noteworthy that the ONLY person who has EVER called my statements hate speech is you. Even the other liberals on this board haven't gone that far.

3. So have I. And none of them have come from me.

4. I never said that bigotry was their political philosophy. The link I gave was only to show your quote NOT GIVE AN EXAMPLE OF THE PHILOSOPHY I WAS TALKING ABOUT. In fact in the ORIGINAL link which Mr. Thunndar posted, I never even entered THAT link, until you made that personal attack.

5. I never said that. Why are you putting words into my mouth? Find an example where I claimed these were "legimate" philosophies. Let me help you out. In my opinion racism, homophobia, and gender discrimination are not legimate political philosophies and hopefully never will be. And they should be "put down".

6. We are getting far afield from the question here. Fine, since you object to the words "political philosophy" I will remove them and I will rephrase it. Did you or did you not state that certain of your ESL colleagues should be put down like rabid animals? As we can see from the link you did. Poor form (to say the least).
