|
|
Just curious, at your university, what is the maximum number of teaching hours per week required BEFORE you can recieve additional pay?
What would you say is the average teaching load at most schools: 12, 15, or 18 hours per week?
Also, is overtime and/or working summer and winter sessions mandatory at your university or just an option?
Thanks |

my first university was 20 hours per week vacation classes mandatory
my second university was 12 hours per week vacation classes mandatory
my current university is 12 hours per week and there is a lottery to see who gets to teach during vacation as there are more teachers wanting to work than there are classes. - I didn't even sign up - vacation is for vacation not work. |

Mine is 20 hours a week, 2 mandatory camps.
Over 20 hours, you get more. This place has all kinds of dodgy shite going on for overtime. |

PREFERRED TEACHING LOADS
For undergraduate instruction, a teaching load of nine hours per week.
For instruction partly or entirely at the graduate level, a teaching load of six hours per week.

12 hours then OT
Summer and winter classes that the admin office can compel teachers to work, but there are always enough volunteers to cover the classes, so it's a non-issue. |
