Are Samsung Windows CDs that come with the computer created in a special way that makes them unworkable on other computers? I have been pounding my head into a friend's computer for 5 hours on 2 separate nights, reformatting and reloading windows. The Korean XP disk that she had, which are samsung, were what came with her samsung computer (I think). We couldn't get it to work for more than a minute past when it started up. Kept popping up with a funky registry error, even after totally formatting and reinstalling, then freezes soon after that. So I brought another XP Korean disk from work (also Samsung) and tried to load it on her computer. Tried 2 times. Formatted the long way, etc., and still the same problem! Even changed out the RAM, and no difference.
I'm beginning to think it's some sort of hard drive or motherboard issue, but I can't figure out why it would allow me to install windows for an hour, then turn around and stop working about 30 seconds into windows. It's definately a screwy install, because I can't get into My Computer. This has happened with both disks. I'm going to bring an English Full OEM version that I KNOW works, and try that next.
Any suggestions? Thanks. |
