Girls, in one month, how many times are you stalked by some byeonteh man and asked if you are a prostitute? How do they approach you, and what do they ask you? If someone asks me if I am Russian, does it mean he is asking if I am a hooker? Or in your own personal experience, are they more blunt?

They keep asking me if I am Russian. I have been having some fun with it, as of late. I smoke, which might add to the problem. I find that staring them directly in the eyes and slowly taking a big, long drag, followed by a -sizing you up- stare is kind of fun. After the long pause, I just smile at them and say no as I look away like some huffed princess.

The disappointed look in their eyes is priceless.

I was asked if I was Russian just last week, and I ain't even a woman (though I am 5'2" and have long hair, lol). If you are blonde with blue eyes, they may just be making a guess as to your origins. I think eye colour is a curiosity to them as deep blue is a recessive gene even among white folks.

just a guess but do you have badly dyed blonde hair? one night a few years back, a couple of girlfriends and i decided to bleach our hair platinum blonde but it ended up being this really tacky shade of orangish yellow, cheap and brassy. our dimestore hooker look was because we only had time to bleach it once before we were being picked up by our korean friend (male) to go out for dinner in apgujeong for his birthday. anyway, we were driving around apgu looking for a place to eat and we got pulled over by the coppers cos they figured we were russian hookers cruising with our korean pimp at the wheel. our hair was so bad the coppers grilled us for something like 15 minutes before they let us go. it was pretty funny.

after bleaching my hair about three more times and attaining a more respectable hue, the "are you from russia? questions lessened in frequency, but not altogether. it helped when i put pink and blue streaks in it, though. and then they stopped altogether when i went back to being a brunette.

it never really offended me, though.
