I haven't. I've heard about all these people on the board receiving them but I haven't heard anything outside of this discussion forum. I would gladly go if I received it just do get it out of the way. My school is pretty good about delivering our mail to us, so I doubt that would a problem . It just seems a bit risky for the Immi department to merely send out letters and hope that people actually receive them. And if we don't get them it seems that we will be punished pretty good.
I had thought about going to the Immi office myself but if I just arrive there sans letter they might just give me a blank stare. The trip is a bit of an issue because I live pretty far from the nearest Immi office. I had thought of them staggering the letters out so as not to have a people jam at the various offices but this would be foresight, so I highly doubt it. It's just very inconvenient and unsettling......... |

Which teachers are supposed to be receiving them? To be honest, I really don't notice or care about stupid bureaucratic bullshit, and my director manages to insulate us from all the petty job-justifying crap that sometimes comes down from on high. We do our job, he watches, evaluates, and sometimes makes suggestions which we can feel free to follow or ignore (I'm running at about 50/50 on these), and he takes care of any official stuff.
I'm considering the possibility of trying for a university job for next year, but I'm kinda torn - the director does his job and makes it relatively easy for us except for the usual Korean last-minute stuff that always seems to come up, and I'm pretty certain that most university jobs aren't quite so relaxed. If there's more bureaucratic crap flowing out, it's an incentive to sign on for a third year here.

None of us at our uni received a letter but the office did. So they gave us all the info and forms. So you might want to check with our school management. |

Although there's a notice---written in Korean---going around to some K-teachers, no foreigners at any of my school's campuses have received anything like this. The only reason I know anything about this new policy is b/c I read about it here. |

They were all given to our Department's office.
I'd find out quickly.. the deadline for them is the end of the month.
Who knows how militant they'll be in getting unclaimed forms. |

I called immigration about this and was told that all E-1 and E-2 visa holders in Korea have to fill out the form, and if you did not get the letter to just go to your local immi office and fill it out there. |

I didn't get it. I went to immigration and filled out the form there. no problem. Although they do ask for contact info for your university, so you might want to bring that (I didn't, but the guy looked it up online and wrote down the website address.) |

They send it to your owner, not to you. It's in Korean. You should definitely ask.
Oh did I say "owner"? I meant to say "boss". I guess I should change that, huh? |

I think the majority of people have not...
I was told by a person who inquired at immigration that they only sent letters to people they were suspicious of and not everybody...i hate to generalize but it was mainly canadians they were worried about..
If you haven't recieved a letter, don't worry...they just don't think you are suspicious of possessing a flase degree |

Nope. ALL E-2 and E-1 visa holders must submit the paper. If you don't receive one, then download it, fill it out and submit it. I never received one, just downloaded it, filled it out, and gave it to immigration. |

Cdn, didn't get it, checked with school owner, and everyone who would possibly have had it put into their hands and we haven't received anything at all.
I'm not worried - they can't "punish" me for not doing something that they never asked me to do. |
