The reason you sometimes need to "get in their face" is because you are not dealing with rational, logical businesspeople! You are dealing with Koreans!

Koreans track record for honesty and above board dealings is abysmal, to say the least.

Perhaps your perception of getting in their face and mine differs.

I am referring to: standing up and reminding them that their practice is illegal and violates Korean labour laws(as backed up by the labour board)

Doesnt your contract state that you can be fired if you violate Korean laws? If so....if you let them steal that money you are an accessory to an illegal act

Just because some Korean monkey decides that they will do something doenst mean that you should grease your posterior up and bend over like a good FT.

Dealing with Koreans is often like dealing with petulant children. It may be easier for you to let them have their own way but in the long run it is detrimental to you and anyone who comes after you!

I don't agree with getting in their face, but when they try to shove their foot in the door (the 'take advantage of �ܱ��� door), you have gotta slam it shut!! Especially early on in the year. After 6 months, when I know I can trust my boss, then maybe some allowances can be made.

I would normally have no problem with giving some small deposit, as long as I am 100% sure I will get it back. That's the problem right there.
