I am currentIy in New Zealand and have never taught in Korea before. I have agreed to teach at an English Winter Camp that requires me to pay my own airfare and they pay me out 2,750,000 won at the end of the 3 wk camp.
I was originally signed up and waiting on CWS on another camp offer and they've just informed me that they have pulled out on the deal as the camp management was a shambles.
Now, I dont know much about Korea but I am abit worried about purchasing my airfare and then the camp im with now pulls out or goes bankrupt or something.... I am to send him my contract which could take up to 2 wks and then he is going to send me info for my visa.
As its coming up to Xmas and the prices of tickets are sky rocketing, when is the best time to purchase a ticket without it backfiring in my face? Evil or Very Mad

Are these camps any good? I thought it was a perfect opportunity to come over for 3 wks and check it out before I signed up for a yr contract at the end of nxt year.

You're crazy if you pay your own airfare for that amount of compensation... you'll end up working long hours every day for three weeks, i.e. you'll be making about $3/hr. (or less).

Don't go. You're about to give a company that you don't know and that you have no association with, around a thousand dollars. Can you think of any other company that you would just hand over a thousand dollars to? They should be paying for your ticket.

I have another contract I am able to sign... 2,000,000 won for 4 wks and free airfare accom and meals. The airfare is paid for but the hours are 9am-5pm and participation of night activites til 9pmat HanKuK university.
I don't have alot of teaching experience and find a 8hr day teaching hard enough over here!
Does anyone have experience with these camps? Are they more trouble than what they are worth? I was so excited but now Im not sure weather id cope with such a full on 4 weeks!

2,000,000 for 4 weeks is what I get paid for a 30 hour week (2-8pm) which includes dinner and sometimes lunch and there is no extra work of any kind.

I suppose that'll be the same camp then,,,or do they hold a few of these camps there?
I dunno, I guess its the experience more so than the money and 4 wks hard work would probably do me good!!
Thanks for the feedback, Itll either be the best choice or the worst! Knowing my luck ill fail to for fill the requirements and won't get my return ticket or paid anyways!!!
I wouldnt mind knowing where everyone finds all these great offers????
