Wait. What's this 'respect' thing you speak of in Korea? I've only encountered Hogwon sponsored humiliation since I arrived. Suit, tie, jeans, grunge or deseigner I still get poked in the ass at least five times a day.

I started in Hogwons and I was the typical backpack, jeans and a t-shirt teacher. Then I met someone who changed that. I noticed more chances for part-time work, better offers from schools, offers from companies and everything in general improved when I attempted to dress better. It takes a dramatic change in thinking but it is worth it.
The fact is that we are not in high school or university anymore. We must grow up and join normal working society. That means that if you want to be taken seiously in Korea and home, you have to look the part. I look at it as an investment that has paid off a lot.

My advice. Teaching Korean kindy is not the most rewarding job. Bail now or forever don't post about how awful the job you have is.
