Having seen his posts so many times I'm forced to ask several questions.
1. I thought that to have this level of hate for a place, you actually had to have worked for the company. How did he so quickly jump from interview to embittered former worker?
2. Near baseless accusations, stereotyping, poor spelling, quick flaming attacks against anyone who brings up the other side, is anyone else reminded of princess? Do we have the male equivalent? If so, great, princess's posts are always fun. |

CDI is racist, just like the majority of Hagwons. They seem very up front about caucasians being lazy and Gyopos have more invested in teaching Koreans..yatta, yatta....
Yes, CDI used to only hire Gyopos from top tier schools, but that also has changed. They cant be picky, they will take almost all comers.
I went through the training. It was rubbish, felt very cult like throughout the entire interview. Though, the training process can be useful to noobie teachers. There were a few applicants during the traing that wouldnt be able to communicate in English with one of my middle-school kids IN Korea.
I got the job offer after passing the training, but was smart enough to pass it over. Heard some bad stories from a few friends that had actually taken the position, thus reconfirming my decision.
I will never work for CDI, nor recommend it as an option to a friend. |

| Why are you warning foreigners not to take the position when you say CDI will only hire Koreans? |

Well, little mixed girl, that would be discrimination based on race. Racism. As usual, you shoot yourself down as soon as you open your mouth. Fine for Asians to practice it, but not the other way round. I know how it goes.
As for CDI, English-Spectrum Gate was brought to you by CDI. At the end of SBS's "I Want to Know That" episode when they followed foreigners around Hongdae and claimed that 90% of us were using fake degrees was the message: "Sponsored by CDI."
Their website used to have a faculty page with photos. Not a single face of non-East-Asian-extraction, all North American gyopos.
They are actively promoting the Koreanisation of ESL in Korea and are engaged in demonisation of foreigners.
So be it. |

talking to me?
they dont hire only gyopos and overseas Koreans anymore. At least as far as I know, there are a few teachers of the non-asian persuasion working there.
i think it was only a few years back that they only hired gyopos. |

This guy is out to lunch! He is obviously extremely bitter that he didn't get hired, and now he is trying to get back by slamming them. Looking at the grammar and spelling in his post (not to mention his attitude), it is not hard to tell why he didn't get hired. I'm also curious as to why he went back for a second interview, especially when he speaks so negatively about the company. I particularly like how he reccomends people to call for an interview as "they are so desperate to hire", yet he still hasn't been hired.
I am a foreign (caucasian) male who has been working at CDI for almost 10 months now. I am not saying that CDI is the best company in the world, but I personally believe that this person is extremely uninformed, extremely bitter, and is trying to make CDI appear to be something its not.
1. I have never met anyone in management (directors) named Joe. The person who conducts the interviews is not named Joe, and is one the nicest, most down-to-earth people I have ever met at the company. While I am not 100% sure he conducts ALL of the interviews, everyone that I have talked to had their interview with him. I have never heard anyone say anything remotely negative about this person, and he was very open and honest during the interview.
2. The interviews are 3 hours long, but are by no means "excruiating". The first two hours are more of a Q and A period, where they show a powerpoint presentation about the company. The last hour the applicant does have to write an essay (on a computer), and if thats too much to handle, then I question if you are seriously capable of being a teacher.
3. The Bundang branch is not closed down.
4. "Dong de moon"-hahaha.
5. Yes, there are CCTV's in the classrooms, no the parents do not have 24 hr. access to them. In fact, I have never heard of a parent actually viewing a CCTV tape.
6. Yes, they're are many kyopos working at CDI, but there are also many foreign teachers from Canada, America, and Australia. I think foreigners make up maybe 20% of the teaching staff, and while that is not a lot, it is 20% higher than "Malic" makes it out to be.
7. The curriculum is very structured, and they do expect a lot, but I find it to be a very rewarding job. My students are very hard-working, very dedicated, and are extremely intelligent. I am currently teaching some students in Grade 6 from a North American college textbook.
No job/ company is perfect, but CDI is not nearly as bad as this guy makes them out to be. Like I said before, I have been with them for almost a year, and I would definately considering signing on for another year. That being said, CDI is definately not for everyone, but I have had a very positive experience.
Just my 200 won, but this guy does not know what he is talking about.
PS--I can't wait to read his reply! |

So you talking bout da FBI huh?
No I never worked at the FBI or in fact I have not been in Seoul except to fly out and go to the las KOTESOL fests. I have however heard of ahhh CDI umm well no not really. But I think it is a given that nigh all Hoggyones in Korea Are run by greed for profit business men are not known for their consideration just look at post-Buddhism Japan business. Anyhow the point I am making is that the FBI will not get involved in this problem, you should contact the Labor Board and tell them the owner inferred that you are not as able as the Guppy err Koppi --- was not that an Italian Tour de France Winner. Ummm however I think it is a bit slanderous to say such bad things about this Joe fellow- unless it is true in which case you should contact Joe and inform him you are telling on him - then Joe can get some Fan Boys to present the Seoul Side of it. However I do remember when the CDI err no FBI was training at the mount facility and I later taunted them inside the Marine Corps Cafeteria, but that was because they were all mismatched and, as far as I know unarmed at the time, mmm maybe they were armed and just were afraid to kill me. Taht would make headlines Marine killed by teased mismatched paramilitary wannabe FBI guys.... Errr anyhow I recommend you go back to the CDI office and cruelly taunt them with how you are bad mouthing them then they will really feel bad and also be able to get on Dave's and defend their honor. |

Personally I am wary of any place that offers more than 2.2.
2.2 or a bit less is plenty for me as long as the job is fine. Over 2.2 indicates a ton of crap ( unless one is lucky or just teaching privately, or on the side).
And I wonder, how many places say, we are different, we are better than average, etc...?
Nah, most places are similar. Same crap in different outfit usually. Forget pay. An extra 200 bucks a month a month aint worth the pain usually required. |

Righto Listen to the Wise words Of JaJaDUde. He is an easygoing fellow students love as his kind heart is clear to them. Ummmm I may even go to Seoul to Visit my buddy this winter. If that is the case we should all kick it ... did you get a sweet new Job J-Dude.... Ummm I have a job of sorts.
Anyhow Mr. Malic, getting back on topic, if you want, when I go to Seoul maybe this winter I can stop by CDI and put them under the Inquisition. For all I give question to are under Mine Great Power due to The Noble Bearing and Holy Cause Inherent in My Noble Being. Should they fail to answer or show churlish disregard to me, I can stand on their receptionist desk and begin to Sing "I Want It That Way." At the end of my song the women will be sweaty and moon eyed and the men will be begging my Body to be Joined in Marriage to their Daughters or Sisters. At this point I could mention that you still want the job and of course they'd contact and offer it to you. |

Really? I dont think even CDI would stoop that low, considering they now hire Caucasians. |

I have no doubt that they would have "unhappily" reported their competition. Even though they REALLY didn't want to cause other schools trouble, they felt a moral obligation to help the news expose those other shady businesses. Of course to show a proper example they invited the news into their schools (the ones with legal teachers) to see how a proper degree check should be done.
---I am joking. |
