To be honest i have met 2 people who have worked that exact job and they loved it..
Access to all the goodies on base, nice apartment, all the students are very well behaved. |

3 weeks vacation is more than you get at public schools or hakwons.
Plus you teach adults who presumably want to be there,not children who incessantly clamour "Teacher Game!"
While I do think that it is not a great job, I can see how SOME people might find it worth their while to work there.
The low wages are possibly to filter out the greedy teachers who just care about money. Or those for whom money is the main motivation. Notice the kind of teacher they want. |

You're right. I also work in Chinhae. There is a small US Navy Base set next to the ROK navy base. You can pass freely between the two and get some "real" food at the restaurants there and enjoy 2 dollar Corona's at the base club, where you can make some friends who'll take you shopping at the commissary. I know one of the teachers there is Canadian and went to the US base club for New Years Eve and had a blast. And Jinhae is a nice quiet seaside town, you won't like it if your looking for clubs and bars. |
