My funniest memory: Last winter, the sweet cleaning ajumas decided to wash the sidewalk in front of the bookstore...when it was around 25F degrees (-4C)!!! That walk gets almost no sun and it was so funny to see the uni girls in their highheeld boots trying to walk on it!!

A guy from Texas lived on my floor. He was grumbling a bit about the ice on the sidewalks and how they don't remove the ice and it makes it really hard to walk anywhere. I had to think a moment. I never really noticed the ice. As a Canadian from Ontario, you just learn to walk on ice from a young age. It doesn't slow you down much.

Three winters ago, my first here on Geoje Island, the weather was very warm here off the southeast coast, 14 C, so I put on a t-shirt and shorts and went for a walk (had been 2 C the week before, so the big jump up in temp made the sunny day seem so much warmer).

Local Koreans came running out of buildings with coats to wrap around me. FIVE TIMES during my walk around town! It was hilarious. Laughing

One time I went to Gyerongsan National Park (I think that's the name...the one just outside Daejon) and it became a bit blizzardy. I was pretty well-prepared with all the gear and warm clothes and extra rations and whatever but it was still a bit of a sketchy undertaking. Most of the Koreans out there were similarly prepared as I was.

However, there was a group of people with thin nylon jackets, blue jeans, no mitts or hats and the ladies were wearing high heels. Watching these ladies try to climb up slippery rock slopes and ladders with high heels and frozen hands was a sight to behold. The smell of soju was also pretty strong.

I was walking home from school yesterday behind a group of 4 middle school girls. Of course with the sidewalks being all icy they are slipping and sliding and giggling. I'm watching and waiting for one to fall and finally one does.. The funny thing was is that she slid to her right and proceeded to knock the girl down beside her and it was just a dominoes effect and all of them went down.. I had a really good laugh, I had tears in my eyes... ( I was too far away to help them out)

I will add my scariest one! It was on Monday walking to work when a bongo truck full of LPG tanks slides on a sidestreet towards another car Shocked

I think my heart stopped for a full minute!
