BUSAN!

Yeah, Busan!

I'm off work all this week. Resisted the obvious temptation to hop on a plane for Southeast Asia and instead decided to "hang out" a bit in my new home. (I was in Seoul and Kimpo City for the better part of four years, and have been in Busan since this summer.)

Slept in late.

Enjoyed a nice leisurely breakfast at home.

Coffee. Internet. Music.

Took a cab out to Haeundae for lunch at Ganga.

Walked around the neighborhood a bit.

Ended up down on the beach. Sat there for the better part of two hours, listening to the crash of the waves, soaking up the sun, watching the seagulls wheel and turn, relaxing, unwinding, enjoying. IT FELT GREAT!

Walked 15 minutes up the road to Carrefour. Did some nice unhurried shopping. I've now got lots of little goodies imported from France. A nice bottle of vodka.

Cab back home.

People are friendlier here. The pace is slower. You've got almost all the amenities of Seoul, but with cleaner air, higher temperatures in winter, less anti-Americanism, a happier set-up generally.

I'm not sure if this is one of the world's top ten cities. But it's definitely number one in Korea.

BUSAN ROCKS!

As a Canadian I admire all the banter of the great white north however not to many of my top 10 are from my homeland.

1) Copenhagen, Denmark
2) Barcelona, Spain
3) Amsterdam, Netherlands
4) Any small town in the interior of BC Canada (fernie, rosland, etc)
5) Marsielle, France
6) Oslo, Norway
7) Tallin, Estonia
Cool Sydney, Australia
9) St. Petersburgh, Russia
10) Ottawa, Canada

Thats what my list would look like, of course I have only been to a few large asian cities such as Seoul, Tokyo, Bangkok and they wouldn't crack my top 10.

I'm amazed by how many people have actually lived in such a vast number of cities that they can pick their top 10.

Kudos people, kudos.

New York shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near that list. In the USA the only choices that make sense are New Orleans or somewhere on the West Coast. All in all I approve of the list. You guys who slam Montreal are missing the point that it's full of people who speak French. Who wouldn't want to live in a city with women who speak French? Ooh la la. I'm also pleased that Hong Kong, my personal #1, is represented.

new orleans? french canadians?

you are a weird dude, joe doufu.

I lived and worked in St-Hyachinthe, QC. They have a St-Louis, MI type arc structure there. My Quebecois co-worker told me that it was a symbol that meant it was such a hole that it is only half a hole.

We can sell you Winnipeg or "Saint Hee ah Saint" cheap.
Hell, if it were up to me we'd give them away
(but we'd have to take down the Golden Boy and the half-hole thingy first).

That's cool, but you should be there in the summer. Totally different place. Have fun.
