Hello, I'm interested in attending one of the language institutes in Korea. I'm also planning to get a part-time job during my stay at the institute.

So job options are available to foreign students? thanx.

As a student at a language institute (learning Korean?) you fall under a different visa program than the people who post here. There is some (very little) knowledge of this. You MAY be able to do some teaching.

Contact Korean Immigration for an accurate description of what is available to you. OR listen to 7 people who have never been in your situation give their opinion of how Korean visa laws should be interpreted or might be interpreted if the Korean laws were being interpreted in their home countries.

If it doesn't apply directly to me, then I can be an expert on everything.

***I would talk to immigration in person. They never give correct information over the phone.

Well, I noticed a couple of Russians loading sacks into a blue pick up in
Bucheon. I doubt they have a college degree, or else they'd be doing
some kind of engineering. The Pakastani and South East Asian community
are working in factories or on farms throughout Gyonngi-do province, if
not working on the docks of Incheon Harbour. I can't think of any other
jobs non-grads have here among the foreign nationals. But you may con-
sider English Zone bars and cafes in Seoul. Perhaps you can work as a
host, waiter, or bartender if you have no desire to wash dishes. But you
can expect a much lower wage than what you would get back home. Cool

If you are studying in Korea, you should be able to get a student visa. I think (don't quote me on it) anyone on a student visa should be able to work.
The best kind of job I can say is telephone English or even acting (alot of actors I worked with before had student visas- and they weren't even English native speakers~!)
Another thing is doing privates- alot of companies are doing corporate English courses and they need teachers (non-E2 types) to teach for them. They pay about 40,000 to 50,000 an hour.
Alot of people on this board would say you need an amendment to do that kind of work- but alot of companies would be willing to hire you as long as you don't have an E2 (too many problems these days)

Good luck in Korea~!

Acting. Now that sounds interesting. Where can I audition for these acting parts?

Acting in Korea does sound interesting.
But loading sacks of who knows what into
a blue pick up in Bucheon with a couple of
Russians is an "adventure". Cool

GEOM, you can find acting jobs listed on www.worknplay.co.kr , but they are just places to send your resume. You must be in-country, yadda yadda. Most of those jobs require you to stand around a lot longer than you actually work and get paid for, from what I hear.

Working these kinds of jobs is still illegal without an entertainment visa, or approval from immigration. Fat chance having time to get that, too.

Factory jobs pay about 1.1 to 1.3 million per month, but you're working 12 hour+ days to get it. No kidding. I knew someone doing it.

Can't do it. Go to: http://moj.go.kr/ , then click on English. The last button on the right is "Immigration Bureau". Click on that, then "visa issuance". You'll have to scroll down quite a ways to find the student visas, but it will give you info on what you can do on a student visa.
