Bobster, you make this lovely creature above seem wise.

If you don't see it as significant fine. I do.

Do people like you visit some sort of Temple of Exposing Racism ????

If a black American, or a Korean-American convert to Islam did what this Belgian chick did, it would be news, not because of race, but because she was prepared to kill herself and others because of the WARPED and SICK value system she bought into.

But to idiotarians like yourself, she was simply an example of one who wishes to ' attain a new belief system and then die for it."

Fricking extraordinary. With folks like you blathering, it's no wonder the Islamists despise us and see us as weak and destined to fall. Thankfully, they underestimate the West's ability to babysit its more eager and impressionable idealists.

Love to hear why you think the significance has nothing to do with bigotry, despite the fact that the headline mentions her skin color and the topic is very active on white supremacist php boards - ah, gosh, why is it you'd prefer not to address these salient aspects? Can't imagine why...

Uh, no. It would be news because of the racial angle, the notion that the enemy is twisting the minds of our young against us. Or something. Again, I ask, what is the significance of this woman that is not present in any other suicide bomber? If a value system is warped and sick, then it's true regardless, no matter who it is who puts the belt on, man or woman, black white or purple.

She was a woman. And she was "white." That is all that is different. And there is no reasons besides these that you felt it was worth talking about.

Oh, and thanks for the personal insults. It's a good sign I'm on the right track when people pull those out without a moment's thought of saying anything else first ... toodles.

.

The significance is that she was a citizen from the First World converting to a religion that is not particularly kind to women. One would hardly expect a Western "liberated" woman to convert to that kind of religion.

Then it IS because she was a woman. Glad we cleared that up ...

Judeo-Xtian culture is also not very kind to women, by the way. Anyone care to speculate why she voluntarily chose to leave a culture she was born in and try to enter another that, as you say, "is not particularly kind?"

The answer might be that extremists create their own culture in the very act of rejecting the culture they have been given, as they see it as inadequate to their needs. Therefore, the question that might need to be asked is

"What is it about Western Culture that was inadequate to this woman, so much so that she rejected it so completely as she did?"

What do you think, Bobster? Did she make the right choice? Anyway, I doubt she jumped ship because Judeo-Christian culture is "also not very kind to women".

Yes, and even if we were to recognise him as a 'Christian extremist' (which is highly contentious), his example in no way compares to the Islamic Jihadists groups active in almost all muslim nations and many infidel ones with large muslim populations.

Quote:

Politically correct garbage. You can find few examples of Christian groups committed to terrorism. On the other hand, you can find numerous examples, just this very week of such Islamic groups willing to carry out such actions.

Quote:

It does have nothing to do with bigotry. Just because her skin colour is an important aspect of the story (and it is) does not mean it is an example of 'bigotry'. It is a story because it is so unusual. There was a recent example of a woman in Jordan who tried to blow herself up with her husband. That became quite a big story because it was a couple trying to commit mass murder, and a woman was involved. This was even more unusual because it was a seemingly normal white Belgian girl who converted to Islam and then misunderstood the prophet's message of peace and blew herself up. Her skin colour is a factor in the case, but that does not mean it has anything to do with 'bigotry'.

However, I know that you must have your 'bigot' quota to fulfill for the day, so this was obviously an opportunity you couldn't pass up. By the way, thanks for admitting that muslims are not a race, although it would be wishful thinking to assume you would not be playing the race card every time the subject of Islam is discussed.

What do you think, Bobster? Did she make the right choice? Anyway, I doubt she jumped ship because Judeo-Christian culture is "also not very kind to women".

Obviously, it was a bad choice - who in the world thought THAT was anything to discuss?

My questions were about what it is in our culture that this woman found so lacking that she so thoroughly rejected it along with her own life as well - thing is, if we can crack that particular nut, we might start to get close to figuring out suicide bombers in general. The other question which was only alluded to as a means of scorn is what is it about Islam that could be able to impel devotion from any woman at all, converted to it or not ... because it does, you know, many intelligent and thinking women at that.

But I don't really see many on this thread or others around here who are interested in really grappling with questions at all. Seems to be much more interesting to you all to simply use these issues as springboards for insults, jeers, and occasions to pat yourselves on the back for being smarter than a billion other people on the planet ...

Wish I could say I find it interesting as well, but ... ho hum.

It's really not very difficult. What is it about any totalitarian revolutionary ideology that attracts intelligent, educated people. They always have, and they always will, and we must continue to stand firm in the face of such anti-democratic forces. Whether it be Nazism, Communism or Islamism, people join movements because they want to be part of something and because such movements have a certain 'romantic' allure of overthrowing a corrupt and decadent (as they see it) system.

Quite possibly many of the things you liberals have ushered in. Namely the collapse of the family and traditional morals and the replacement of pride in Western culture with a weak 'multiculturalism' that is used as a vehicle to bash the West. Europeans can no longer take pride in their own cultures and traditions, so it is little wonder that some of the more unhinged amongst them are attracted to simplistic ideologies that seek to regulate every aspect of life.

Bobster, your first question may never go beyond the rhetorical. Which is not say it doesn't merit investigation. In the 60's she may well have thrown on a Nehru jacket, love beads, and hit the Khatmandu trail.

The other question which was only alluded to as a means of scorn is what is it about Islam that could be able to impel devotion from any woman at all[?]

Rebel Without A Cause Jim Stark (James Dean) craved parental discipline. He wanted hard and fast answers from his parents. He didn't get any; his old man was a wuss. Big power vacuum there, in young, impressionable minds.

Just a theory. We'll learn much about this woman as weeks go by, I'm sure.

Edit: I see Bigverne has supplied an answer as well. I agree with that one too.

Ever hear of Timothy McVeigh?

Yes, and even if we were to recognise him as a 'Christian extremist' (which is highly contentious), his example in no way compares to the Islamic Jihadists groups active in almost all muslim nations and many infidel ones with large muslim populations.

Politically correct garbage. You can find few examples of Christian groups committed to terrorism. On the other hand, you can find numerous examples, just this very week of such Islamic groups willing to carry out such actions.

Not "Christian". WESTERN. There are plenty of western extremists.

Waco comes to mind. And there are numberous White supremency groups, milita groups and neo-nazis. The difference is that generally their brand of terrorism is directed at one particular group or race. Still terrorism.

Wikipedia has seven such groups listed under "Christian terrorism" You do realize that there are so-called Christian terrorists OUTSIDE of the West right? Whether or not they DESERVE the term Christian is another topic all together.

Hardly any, and they pale into total insignificance when compared to the terrorist disciples of Mohammed. So, really, there is no comparison.

Love to hear why you think the significance has nothing to do with bigotry, despite the fact that the headline mentions her skin color and the topic is very active on white supremacist php boards - ah, gosh, why is it you'd prefer not to address these salient aspects? Can't imagine why...

I checked this on Stormfront. She isn't being talked about.
