"Wipe that smirk off your face"

"Turn off the waterworks"

"Be careful, or your face will freeze like that" (if I had a particularly ornery look on my face)

"Money doesn't grow on trees"

"Do you want to see the back of my hand?" (threatening to slap me)

"I'm going to slap you silly" (not a threat- this was a clue for me to assume the brace position)

"I'm going to beat the ever-lovin' daylights out of you" (see above explanation)

*Disclaimer* I wasn't abused!! These were just particularly memorable quotes... I'm from the Northern midwest, so I wonder if these are regional...

My Mum had a whole series along these lines:

"Let me just beat this end of level baddie"
"I'll end of level baddie you in a minute!"

"But Mum, it's just a skateboard"
"I'll skateboard you in a minute!"
etc.

if she wanted me to do something quickly she was also very fond of saying "I'm counting to 5- 1.....2...."

I use that one on the little girl. It works like a charm.

How about "it's not the end of the world"?

"If you fall off that wall and break your legs don't come running to me!!!".

But as the teenage eamo became more and more troublesome one phrase began to dominate...

"This isn't a bloody hotel you know!!"

Or

"That's it! Pack yer bags sonny!!"

"Are you doing drugs?" was a popular one in my teenage years.

Sparkles, do you also employ "I wonder how fast you can <do some errand for me>? Go on, I'm timing you"

Lets see who can be quiet the longest? ( we took a lot of road trips back then- I'm surprised my sister and I made it to adulthood)
