Our classrooms have very effcient heaters; after 5 minutes they are too warm and I have to fight the kids to turn them off. One bonus is that sending a kid into the frigid hallway has become a dreaded discipinary technique: they are all getting their work done in class.
In summer they cried they were freezing if the aircon brought the temperature below 25 degrees. |

| Well, the heating situation in my school is crazy. It must be about 30 degrees inside, and 2 degrees outside. |

well, i asked one of my coteachers today why they just dont insulate the buildings and make the doors not so easily to prop open. of course she said it is cheaper to build without insulation.
after i mentioned that one summer of less AC and one winter of less heating woult more than make up the cost, she was daffled.
but then she told me when she went to school (at my middle school coincidentally) students had to collect fire wood to burn in class for heating. that is pretty astounding when you realize she is only 26 years old!
obviously, that means only 10 years ago, my school did not even have heaters, wow. |

in the summer our office was so cold due to the air conditioning that we had to wear jumpers (the windows were left open to prevent fan death).
now it's the winter, and we're sweating in thin cotton shirts. Our eyes are stinging with the dry heat. Again, the windows are open to prevent heater death. |
Stat! Way to perfectly summarize one of the things I hate most about Korea. EXTREME temperature control! |

Yeah, Koreans are obtuse. I mean, they leave the windows open on these howling, freezing days and then they jack the heaters up to the hilt whilst keeping their jackets tightly bound and then complain about the cold. It is bizarre...
solution: Close the fucking windows, keep the heat at a reasonable temperature and take your jackets off. Simple...problem solve but we know how Koreans love to convolute things.... |

| I think Koreans are conditoned to leave their jackets on in the winter. Even when the heater is on full tilt. I tell my students to take their jackets off because they make too much noise when they move around. I fucking hate noise. Pencil cases, jackets moving, etc. Fucking hate it. |
