Where did all those crazy white people who used to be on children's t.v programs go? They weren't really crazy but they sure had to be overdramatic. I think that market dried up very quickly. I always wondered how they got the job and if they had the right visa.

I'm not sure what's happened to the market lately but in 2001 I worked at a University with a guy that had a role on an EBS children's show. The University gave him permission and he received sojourn status on his visa from Immigration.

My girlfriend talked to a producer at MBC for one of those programs, and she said one of their basic requirements was to have either taught at a university or to have written a book.

One of the guys on a kid's show I introduced to a voice acting agent I knew. This was about three years ago - now it's all he does. I think he's on an entertainment visa now.

This guy taught for about a year, and now recordings and tv are all he does. Doesn't even speak Korean, though most people who get by in the recording field are pretty fluent. Most studio engineers don't speak English.

There are more of these people out there than you'd think. They just lay low because the nature of the job is illegal - sure, you're legal for the tv job, but then the other recording work you do with the other 75% of the time is illegal.

Only know of one person ever to be busted for it. Didn't know her, just heard that it happened.

There was a big problem after the "SBS" program because one of the actors on the show "surprise" pulled a surprise by boasting that he can act and do privates, even without a degree or a teaching visa.
This stung immigrations and they did an investigation into the actors on the show.
I heard that some of the actors (including the guy who did the boasting) were deported.
I thought it was good publicity to be on TV (good for picking up privates), but now they have scared off alot of the foreign talent in this country.

Way to go~!!

Speaking about Isaac, he was right behind me reading the comment....smooth!~!
