Can anybody give me info on this. I'm on a single entry E2 visa and want to go overseas for a week. Do i have to get/pay for some kind of re-entry permit and if so, how much does it cost and how do i go about getting it?

Yes, you need a re-entry permit. You can get a single re-entry for 30000 won at your local immigration office or the airport. If you expect to step out twice or more, you can get a multiple re-entry permit at your local office for 50000. Either way, you just fill in a simple form & pay up for a stamp in your passport.

I find it less stressful to take care of getting the re-entry stamp before I go to the airport.

I think the re-entry visa is done on the spot. Just give the cash, your passport gets stamped and you are on your way right away.

jajudude is right. The multi-entry visa is done about 5 minutes after your number is called. They take your passport (and 50 000? Won), stick the sticker, stamp the stamp and you're off. However, waiting for your number to be called (at Mokdong, anyways) can seem like 2 days.
