Just three days, but I'd rather book something in advance and pay for it by credit card. That way I'll have more money to burn once I'm in Thailand. |

I agree with Grotto Lek has an excellent breakfast Buffet
Do not worry about hotels..no need to book often times you get a better price by walking in. I stay at GJ Hotel on Pattayaland 1. It is 700.00 baht a night and has all the aminities. You can get a place for as little as 250.00 but no tv etc. I suggest you come and look around. My hotel does not have a website, but one nearby does..it is 550.00 a night with aircon, Cable TV

they are ok!!!! But do not use their airport service. When you get to the airport tell an outside taxi that you want to go to Pattaya--say you will pay 1300.00 baht including tolls. Thwey will drive you to a nearby hotel and put you in a regular airconned car. DO NOT get a taxi inside the airport! They will overcharge you as they are mafia run.
You can take a bus, but it is your first time, so I do not recommend it
Pattaya has tons of restuarants--do not worry about that.
Here are a few warnings:
Do not talk to Thais on the street--never let them touch you!
Do not get too drunk here
Do not walk on Beach Road at night
If you have further questions you cans end me a private message.
The weather is excellent here!!!!!
so what is great about Korea? It is only five hopurs away from Thailand |

I'll be spending two nights in Bangkok before heading to Pattaya so will probably take a bus from the Khao San Rd area.
Is it possible to book a hotel through a Khao San Rd travel agent? I don't really want to be walking around Pattaya on my first day there in search of a hotel that isn't fully booked. |

Depending on your situation, I recommend just getting a taxi off the street in Bangkok and offering him 800 to take you to Pattaya. If he doesn't accept, go up to 1,000. Most drivers LOVE going down there, as they are guaranteed a return fare back to Bangkok. He may have to stop for gas, tell the wife he'll miss dinner, etc., but it's worth it to him.
When you get there, have him take you to Soi 8 and Second Street. Many mid-range hotels all within walking distance of each other. (Some drivers will even drive you around a bit, but no need really, unless you have many bags.)
I know you said you didn't want to do this, but its better for 3 reasons. Walk-in prices tend to be cheaper, and you can see the hotel and the room before committing. Third, you don't know where that bus is going to drop you off at, in relation to where you want to be. |

Hahahaha!
Interesting hotel. Did you really stay there?
Anyway, sound advice Hapki. I've tried booking places online but everywhere has come back 'fully booked' I didn't realise it would be so difficult... |

Opposite that "interesting hotel" is a little Irish bar that does a great fry up. Beans, hashrowns, bacon, potoatoes, tomatoes etc with a coffee or cuppa tea for the good price of 90baht. |

Well I've just about given up searching for a hotel on-line. There's absolutely nothing available. So I've decided to just go there and look around myself and hopefully I'll be able to find a decent place fairly close to the action.
I'll report back when I get back to Korea. Only 9 more days until my vacation |

Good lord. It would be difficult to be in Pattaya and not trip over a hotel. You will have your pick of several and in many price ranges.
If the girly scene and the racket get to you, hop on a bus and go to Jomtien, which is a few minutes south of Pattaya. It's quieter and a little more family-oriented.
See if you can meet some buddies and charter a taxi to Pattaya together. The bus is slowww and the roads were a little rough when I was there in June.

Just got back from my trip to Thailand today. Had an excellent time and the weather was great I managed to find a hotel in Pattaya but it took me thirty minutes of walking around in the stifling heat and being told that no rooms were available until I came upon a little place down Soi 11 with air-con rooms for only 400Baht a night.
Thanks again for all who gave advice. I drank a beer or two in your honour while I was there |

patayya really sucks arse ... the angeles city of thailand ... crap beaches ... bland beer bars .. dodgy people (a good place to get mugged or HIV). so many better places in thailand.
with that said, i always stay at APEX when i'm there and "walking street" is a dang trip. |

Kangnam mafioso,
I agree about the beaches, very narrow and over-crowded though I thought there were some decent beer bars around. The thing that really got to me was all the drunken, ignorant, loud-mouthed, tattoed British louts hanging around the place. I've never encountered so many retards on my travels before. And I'm British too. |
