I reckon that's a "self-nomination" for that heralded award. I'll go ahead and second the nomination - though I doubt it's as cynical as I'm naturally inclined to be (without my spiritual practice...)
When I dropped out of UMass (Amherst) for about the third time (during the "Turn On - Tune In - Drop Out" era/error) I canvassed fellow students to also drop out of the school, reasoning that attending there was "... an expression of faith in the state of Massachusetts", and I had "no faith in the state of Massachusetts" (or any other governmental body...)
I still think that society consists almost entirely of two groups: the cheaters and the cheated (... and many laws are made by the biggest cheaters and their lying lawyers...) |

Just demonstrating your point.
However, since I'm here, I'll demonstrate my point: As usual, you have the facts wrong. Why do you associate me with Changwon? I don't live there and have never lived there. |
Indeed.
And I'd like to add: The most likely reason to have to overload a thread with fact-based data and information. Answer: why, Thing II aka EFL Trainer, of course, and his rampant emotionalism and general so-far-beyond-the-reasonable moron-derived, extremist-ideology-based "Rome is burning!" idiocy.
Greetings to Ya-ta, Plig., On the Other Hand, Mith, Leslie C., Bobster, and apologies to anyone who I may have forgotten to mention. Thesis is publishing next Wed., scored in the 90th percentile on the GRE gen. exam, doctorates are looking promising, but the final answer won't come until March, and I'm going home from the gym to relax in my jacuz this nice Dec. evening in San Diego where it's nice enough to wear shorts still...in any case, Merry Christmas to this board, and I hope you can get together with good company for some soju-based eggnog or whatever it is that the Koreans might be into. |

Since "The End" (of the year) is near, we're gonna have to kick it up a notch to get all the worthy nominations in. (I think I've probably slowed this thread by my posts here so I"ll put a bit more thought and effort into it...)
I'll nominate "The War On Drugs" ("Igotthisguitar") as my other selection for "Thread of the Year" (even though I haven't posted on it yet - which is unusual for me ... probably because I've stayed completely clear of drugs for over 30 years...) |

Well, damn, if I were of a mind and it was worth a second, I'd go find the post that caused me to err there. But, per usual, picking on a point that is about as essential as a gnat's rear isn't really worthwhile. Try taking me to task for something useful, eh?

Easy to say, goph, but never shown. Would love to see the proofs on that. And, as ever, you fail to address the issue of your own pettiness. And overloading threads? Not a very creative reponse: you were overloading threads long before I showed up. Was I the first to point out those of them that were irrelevant to the issues at hand?

Congrats on the academics, but 90th percentile? I am surprised. Your self-agrandizement does have limits. ONLY 90th? Lordy, I didn't think it was actually possible to score that low on a standardized test. Is 97th to 99th percentile unusual?
Merry Christmas!! |

Oh, I don't know. Might have had just a smidge to do with the following:

Changwon is far enough south that winters are reasonable. Major point in my book. It's about 45 minutes by bus west of Pusan.
It has an E-Mart and a Home Plus...and a Wal-Mart just down the road in Masan. (Changwon, Masan and Jinhae are really all one city, with a big mountain stuck right in the middle.) There is also an Outback restaurant.
There is a largish number of waygookins around. A couple of foreigner bars.
All in all, not the worst place (by far) in Korea to live. |
Afer all, if you've never lived there... BTW, I think your linkage of the three cities is a goodly ways off the mark. Having lived there, I found the three cities to be quite distinct. |

Don't be so down...I'll go ahead and second your nomination for the N.A. thread for thread of the year. It was probably the most interesting one I participated in. |

I lived in Jinhae, dumbas*. If you lived in Changwon, then why don't you know that the government plan is to consolidate the three into one administrative district and put it in the same category as Seoul, Daejon, Pusan, Ulsan etc? Could it be because you were too busy talking and not listening? Well, no, that couldn't be it.

Then again, it's probably just a personality clash - I'm sure that "desultude" is a nice person and model netizen. So, I'll (even more humbly...) withdraw my nomination. (The category was too obscure anyway...) |

We've got to break the forces of communism threating our nation. Ho Chi Min is a brutal dictator supressing his own people and a threat that has to be removed. If we weren't fighting with one hand tied behind backs we could win the war in 6 weeks blah blah blah.. |
The Vietnam war was a mistake but the US was right to fight the cold war.
If the US followed the advice of those like you then the US would have lost the cold war.

Nah you wouldn't make it. You have to many good feelings for those in the world that hate the US . You are not cynical about them.

I repeat the arguments cause you and a lot of others can't come up with good counter arguments.
As for the Jeff Rense well that is the right way to respond to Igotthisguitar's misinformation & disinformation.
Why ought anyone have to take the time to refute his stuff when he will just respond with another conspiracy theory? |

How can the US have won the Cold War when they had nothing to do with winning the Cold War?
At least, that is what someo people say... |
