Heh heh, well, everybody loves a Newman episode you know.

Now that's witty. OK-Joe's my nomination and I'm sticking to it -well for now anyway Wink

My nominations for wittiest go to the guru and the penguin. Always amusing.

Troll - the wolfman. Hands down. He is the clear successor to dw. I'm sure that after dw's departure in may he mentored young wolfman to prepare him for his fall appearance. He did a damn fine job as there was no visible rookie nervousness as he began his first term as Dave's ESL Cafe's official troll. Hats off to the wolfman.

I nominate myself for Most Insulted by Accusation: I've had TWO people accuse me of being DaechidongWaygookin... or whatever. Must be a nasty character the way you all talk about him, whereas I am lovable and filled with frankincense and myrh... mhyr.... myrrh... what the frick ever...

I nominate noneother than the Man - Chuck Norris - as "Most Hilarious Poster" of the year. Actually, all the posts on that thread were composed by Chuck himself via a pyschic karate technique (except for the brilliant post authored by "Bo Peabody" - who hopefully will now be inclined to rig vote tallies in my favor...)

I second the nomination of "Dan the Chainsawman" for the "Best Sure as Hell Something" Award (in a subtle quid pro quo for his vote in the "Best Thread" category...)

I would make a group nomination for the most annoying of the year to the new evangelists on the board- of at least a couple of persuasions.

"Holier than thou, my way or the highway to hell" hyperbole has run rampant this year.

Oh, and I modestly nominate myself as the "Ecumenicalist of the year". Embarassed

May the gods and goddesses be with you, as long as you need them to be.

Some persuasions are more persuasive than others. The original religion of India was the most truly ecumenical in the scope of its worldwide influence. Vedic culture spread throughout the world, and all subsequent religions are derived from it... (I presume that you're not using "ecumenical" in the strictly Christian sense):

Main Entry: ecumenical
Pronunciation: "e-ky&-'me-ni-k&l
Function: adjective
Etymology: Late Latin oecumenicus, from Late Greek oikoumenikos, from Greek oikoumenE the inhabited world, from feminine of oikoumenos, present passive particle of oikein to inhabit, from oikos house -- more at VICINITY
1 : worldwide or general in extent, influence, or application
2 a : of, relating to, or representing the whole of a body of churches b : promoting or tending toward worldwide Christian unity or cooperation

Since it's the holiday season though, I'll go ahead and second your nomination as "ecumenicalist of the year" ... Cool

funniest post: when mindmetoo posted a love letter he got from somebody who thought he was the girl in his avatar

wittiest poster: swiss james. this award should be "witty poster" because he's the only one.

most henious post: when kiddirts suggested (seemingly quite seriously) that he pick up wh*re in thailand and bring her back here and pimp her out. I think that got him banned because I never saw him after that. Maybe he's just too busy with his fledling human trafficking enterprise to post here anymore.

interesting to hear daechidong waegookin mentioned.. what happened to that guy? and what happened to joe thanks? as a frequent reader (but not terribly frequent poster) they managed to annoy me very consistently but i kinda missed them after they went..

for wittiness, i'll go with swiss james; avatar, mindmetoo's one with the girl wearing white (but not the one he has now!); i think there should be a ģѻ award for tzechuk because she always seems to reply when people ask for help about something; also itaewonguy's writing style really deserves some recognition- yes really! his posts are crazy but never, ever boring.
how about some other awards: bitter and twisted old expat of the year? best drunk post? most pretentious poster? or a 'lazarus' award for the most comebacks under different pseudonyms?

I'm giving my valuable vote to Saddam Hussein (oh - he's not running?) ... then I'll give it to "JongnoGuru" for "Wittiest Poster of the Year" (for an older fella - I'm the wittiest youngin...) "Beaver" and several others (I'm too lazy to list them all...) deserve honorable mention, but "JongnoGuru" makes better use of photos...

I'll second the nomination of yours truly for "Most Likely to Keep His Own Thread Alive" (noting that I'm also most likely to keep other threads I like alive - including this one...)

You're not only nominating yourself, but you're also seconding you're nominations of yourself? One of us is going to have to ease up on the hooch. Are you also the same guy that was talking about himself in the 3rd person?

Anywho, the 'Most Likely to Keep His Own Thread Alive' award can only go to the legendary Chicken and he should eventually receive the lifetime achievement award in that category for his perpetual 'Unbelievable' thread.

Unbelievable

Yeah, I once tried to read that thread... all the way through. Didn't make it, entertaining as it was. Impressive.
