I'm trying to decide what to do when I go home. Is it difficult to just take out the motherboard and hd pack them and take them back and have somebody put it all back together, buy a DVD burner etc or am I better off just buying a new system in the states. Prices there have gone down big time. A Dell system with similar specs to what I have here runs $700 with a flat screen monitor.

I'm leaning towards just buying a new system as it wouldn't cost me much net after selling this system. I'd just burn all my data on dvds

It's a whole lot easier to buy a new system back home. But try to go for something better than a Dell, if you have money to spend on it.

take out your hard drive and pack it with you...maybe even the ram too. the rest you can sell and pick up new parts back home.

the hard drive is a cinch to take out, and reinstall in a new system. also this way you'll still have all of your data.

If your existing PC is new and 'hot' then it is worth it, as the age/capability increass/decreases then it becomes less desireable - depending on your needs.

One caution about the RAM - you would have to make sure it is compatible with your new motherboard (and any new RAM).
