Christmas is coming. Time to indulge a little. These taste just like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. They are sooooo gooood.
I believe scaring up the graham crackers/icing sugar in Korea wouldn't be too hard.

If you don't have a 9 x 13 pan, improvise with a box you can make lined with Saran Wrap type of plastic.

Bottom layer:

2 cups crushed graham crackers--box of either already crushed or crush them yourself.
1 cup melted margarine (not butter)
3 cups of powdered or icing or confectioner's sugar (same same)
1 cup peanut butter

Mix all ingredients well and pat into 9 x 13 pan

Topping:
Melt 6 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate and 6 ounces milk chocolate. Spread over bottom layer with wooden spoon/spatula. Put in refrigerator to firm up. Cut into bars. Eat.

The Costco near Yeungdeung-po has graham crackers for sale now.

Is powdered sugar available in stores out here? I don't recall ever seeing it.

Brian, maybe Periwinkle, who has an on-line bakery, can point you in the right direction for icing/powdered/confectioner's sugar.

The big department stores? With all the baking that goes on in Korea, someone's gotta have it!!!

Hannam Market or the Red Door in Itaewon may have it, or any other just-fell-off-the-supply-truck type of establishments near US military bases.

Here's another no-bake variation with Rice Krispies:

Peanut Butter Rice Krispies Bars

Ingredients:
3/4 cup light white syrup (any corn syrup will do)
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup peanut butter
5 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
2 cups or 16 ounces of milk or semi-sweet chocolate

Cook syrup and sugar until it is clear but do not boil it.
Add peanut butter.
Mix with Rice Krispies.
Press into 9 x 13 pan.
Melt chocolate and spread on top.
Refrigerate to firm up. Cut into bars. Eat.

Yeah, thanks for the recipes... I used to make "rice crispy treats" by the thousands sometimes when I was with the Hare Krishnas (we'd pass them out at Grateful Dead or Dylan concerts...) I never tried them with chocolate added, though... I'm sure they'd be nice, but if I make a tray of the graham cracker things with chocolate, I'd probably just add golden raisons - and maybe flaked coconut - to the crispy treats. I'll bring in a couple trays to set under the table-top Christmas tree I got for our teachers' office...(I've been putting a lot of Hersheys kisses and hard candies under it, and they've been going too fast - along with my money...)

Here's an easy "bake" peanut butter cookie recipe:

* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup smooth peanut butter (you can use crunchy if you like)
* 1 egg

Directions:

1. Mix the sugar, peanut butter, and egg together in a bowl.

2. Roll dough into walnut size balls. Place on a cookie sheet and press down with a fork.

3. Bake at 350�� for 12 minutes and let them cool.

None of the grocery stores around me carry Rice Krispies. Any suggestions for a substitute? I'm thinking Corn Flakes might do, but if anyone has a better idea, I'm open to suggestions.

Here's my version of no-bake goodness

Rice Krispies (or Corn Flakes if you're in Korea)

Peanut Butter

Butter

Corn Syrup

Sugar

Melt butter, add other sugars and peanut butter. Bring to a boil until sugar is dissolved. Add Rice Krispies. Spread thinly onto greased pan. I don't know quantities, just use your judgement. You've cooked before!

Then for the icing, mix butter, icing sugar, cocoa and milk. Make it a bit runny or it will be hard to spread. Spread onto Rice Krispy pan. Roll it up and slice. Delightful!

Are you serious?? That's awesome! It's a heckuva lot easier than trying to get them from someone on post!

Yes. HomePlus and E-Mart both carry it in their little baking sections, so I'm sure the other big stores carry it as well. You can also get it (for a bit cheaper I think) from http://www.yoricome.com .

HEre's another easy-to-make dessert recipe (the powdered milk is available at most super markets):

Honey Peanut Butter Balls

Yield: 2 dozen

* 1/2 cup honey
* 1 cup peanut butter
* 2 cups nonfat dry milk (unreconstituted-dry)

Mix well with a spoon the honey and peanut butter together in a large bowl. Add the dry milk and stir until well-mixed. (This requires some arm muscles!) Roll small walnut-sized balls with your palms and place on a plate. Cover with plastic wrap or place in a sealable plastic container. They can stay at room temperature as long as they are covered. They last about 3 days around our house, but can last as long as 3 weeks. These little balls are full of protein (and, yes, fat--but that shouldn't be a concern for kids under 5 or so!).
