OK, so I got offered an editing job in Seoul. However its for only 1.8 million won. Would you accept this instead of a teaching job for as much as 2.2?

Also he said that "when you contact the American Company and receiving orders of rendition, you can get more money as an intensive." Anyone have any idea what he is refering to?

I wouldn't trust any Korean businessman saying I would get more money when X happens (no matter what it was).

Boy boy,

I wouldn't get any editing job for 1.8 million won per month. For the record, my relative who was a part-time editor for Korea Times made 1.5 million won a month 6 years ago. Work hours were like 5 hours a day/ 6 days a week. And KT is at the bottom of a barrel in terms of pay scale.

And here is a word of caution. Verbal promise of Korean businessmen ain't worth anything.

If you are interested in editing job, send your resume to Korea Herald, Korea Times, Arirang TV and other English media and KOTRA in Seoul. You will get a better offer from them.

Trin.

Frankly, i find it hard to trust ANY of them ... period.

Chalk it up to close to 4 years now of seasoned experience.

Especially any of the smiling ones ... plus, if they're wearing a suit you know you're gonna get screwed for shure Laughing

You'd be nuts to take on a full-time editing job for 1.8. The financial houses are paying 50-100 million for full-time editors. If you don't have a business background, try getting ahold of SNU's ELI. They are usually looking for editors to work freelance, and they pay pretty well.

Be patient and edit as your time allows while banking on the teaching pay checks. Eventually, word gets out and you'll build a customer base. Don't work too cheap. You'll regret it in the end.
