http://www.flickr.com/photos/crazy_arcade/74735353/

I got this jacket in Osaka a while back but I have no idea what the Japanese writing says. I little while back I was wearing it in Dongdaemun Migliore my friends said that some of the sales girls were giggling at it. Then a group of Japanese tourist girls passed me and they all went "huhhhhhh...YAKUZA!! teeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheehee"

the shop I bought it was pretty rad so I dunno...

Well, the first 3 characters (katakana) do say
Ya Ku Za. The 4th one means medicine (it's Kanji) and usually goes with doctor or hospital though I don't know what the 5th one means. The 4th and 5th go together though.

That's what I always thought doctor was. I didn't know the other one. Do you know how the two are different and when they are used? I know 医 (yi shi) is the chinese for doctor. (ofcourse they have simplified the second kanji)

Well, here's some dude's blog on what he sees the difference as:

He seems to see an 'ishi' as a kind of stuck-up doctor in a hospital that is interested in medical research and so on, whereas an 'isha' is the kind of guy that sets up shop in town and likes to cure people. Then we've got a girl here:

She doesn't even use the word 'ishi', just like us. Plus ishi is a homophone for like a million other words.

By the way, thanks for the English translation. I can read all of that, but I have been studying other languages recenlty and I am getting a little slow and you saved me a lot of time. Some people like to show off they know a language (and act superior) and would ahve just put the Japanese and left me to it, which you didn't. Again, thanks.

i think the 'shi' is more honorific?

i dunno, cuz there's 'onshi' which is 'one's honored teacher'.

i think 'sha' is more generic...of course i could be wrong.
