This morning I turned on my comp, forgetting that my ipod was plugged in. Whenever I turn on the comp with my ipod attached it hangs on the bios screen for some reason, wont check the harddisks.

Its done this perhaps 10 times, so I did what I always do, pulled the ipod out of usb port and then reset it. Normally it boots up as usual but not this time. Now the monitor can't find a signal and though I leave the comp on a while it doesnt play any windows startup music. The laser in the mouse turns on tho and it beeps normally, it just seems totally borked.

Any thoughts on what I've done? My semi-computery friend told me to pull the battery to the bios and stick it back in, saying a bios reset will fix it, what do you lot think?

Ok, I pulled the bios bat and replaced it.

Booted up fine straight away (grr @ apple). However as it checks the IDE drives I get the following message.

IDE Channel 0 Master : None
Slave : Maxtor 6B200P0BAH41BY0

IDE Channel 1 Master : NU DVD DDW-082 B375

IDE Channel 1 no.80 conductor cable not installed.
Floppy disk(s) fail (40)

Press F1 to continue
Press other keys to do other stuff (forget wot, i was in a hurry)

Pressing F1 results in a perfect boot up. Any thoughts on how to get my old settings back?
