Just wanted to let any other vegans etc... out there know that a new vegan bakery has opened up in Gangnam near Hakdong station (line 7).
They sell vegan muffins, cookies, cinnamon buns and cakes and I sampled quite a few things last week and they were delicious!!
There website is www.stickyfingers.co.kr. THere's a map on the website.
They import all the ingredients from USA and its a franchise of Sticky Fingers vegan bakery in Washington, DC.

| Dang, I'm fat enough already! ... Thanks a lot for posting this, though - I'm sure that the multitudes of vegans and vegetarians who regularly rally to my support on threads challenging the slaughterhouse status quo will also be grateful. (By the way, my young niece's name is "Oni" - a traditional Armenian name, I think...) |

Did they get their name by picking their noses in the winter so there was half-frozen snot on their fingers?...  [uh-oh, nobodies laughing...  ] Anyway, I'll enjoy eating their vegan cookies with a nice glass of milk!  |

So you haven't tried good vegan baking -- it's ok, you can admit it. No judgments here, no need to be a dick about it. |

Pay extra just because it's labeled 'vegan' if you want. It's your money. But, you need to realize that bread is just bread (salt, water, yeast, flour, cooking oil). It's not pieces of animal flesh deep fried in lard with gravy on top. |

Okay, you might be right on the cake, although Korean bakeries use artificial non-dairy whipped cream (vegetable oil, vanilla, and sugar) as frosting. But, then again, the whole arguement that the vegan lifestyle is healthier goes out the window once you start scarfing cake. I guess they want to have their cake and eat it too. |

| Bread in Korea has industrial butter. That's what the labels all translate to when I use my dictionary. And when I ask if something is vegan, they say yes. If I then ask if there are eggs, sometimes they say yes and sometimes they say no. If I then ask if there is any kind of butter, they always say yes. At least they are honest about it, but it IS disappointing that I can't buy bread here. Then again, I probably eat healthier without having that on my menu. |

| I don't think there is a single word. My dictionary spills out this phrase that I use. My students, who have learned what a vegan is and can explain it in either Englisho or Korean, assured me that it is the right thing to say. |

That's so amazing!!!! Now that I've left, they open up a vegan bakery!!!
Pet Lover, what's the phrase you use? Many English-speaking Koreans have told me my Korean pronunciation is good, but no one ever understood me when I tried to say "butter" in Korean.  |
