As I suspected, you need to bring your university degree these days when you apply for your ARC card (yeah I know the C already means card... but I like saying ARC card, ATM machine, SIN number, GST tax!). As well, you need to supply contact information for your university plus contact information for the recruiter you used to get the job (assuming you used a recruiter).
FYI. |

| This might be for the degree re-confirmation thingy that immigration is doing at the moment. IF you were in Seoul did you need to go to the third floor before getting it? |

| We didn't bring anything to get our ARC, except some paperwork from the school and our passports. We had them check our degree when we went BACK to pick up the ARC and passport. They didn't give us any trouble at all. They even looked up the contact information for our university on the internet. |

No. When I sat down at the desk to hand over my ARC form with the stamp and my passport, the woman gave me a degree confirmation form to fill out.
Also too, they moved the stamp desk to the basement. There's a big yellow sign telling you it's down there. However, in typical Korean fashion, the big yellow sign is half way down the stairs. You can't see the sign until you know to go down the stairs... |

| Does someone extending a visa for a year also need to confirm their degrees? |

Although it's a formality and I'm not so stupid as to go to immigration without every bit of paper work they could conceivable ask for (hence I brought my degree), like, doesn't anyone notice you have to supply your degree THREE times? Once to immigration for the "blue paper" visa approval (which has been replaced by a confirmation number). Once at the embassy when go to get your actual visa insert. Once at immigration to get your ARC. |
