I think new year's resolutions or new year "goals" are the best thing you can do. Many people write personal goals as a habit - 1 year, 6 month, and 1 month goal lists. I used to do it but have been slacking. You could try it.

Or... you could simply talk about how new year is celebrated (and calculated) differently by different cultures... play video of the ball dropping in New York, work up an English version of the korean/chinese lunar calendar, explain about the kiss at midnight.

Or, considering they are Koreans, they may be excited to learn about the sneaky end-of-year accounting techniques by which our multinational enterprises "cook the books" in december. There are some simple but clever techniques that any growing Korean child should master.

Make a list of easy vocab resolutions ...... Next year I'm going to .....

study more
smile more
sleep more
etc..............

Students check which ones will be their resolutions. They then walk around the class or in their group read out their resolutions one by one. Others respond So am I......if they agree. Model infront of the class with students responding So am I , if they agree with your own resolutions.
