Just so there's someone saying it, I don't think this deadline applies to everyone across the country. Could this be the deadline for all those who fall in the two major cities, Seoul and Busan? Yes, I think it is. But for all of us other people who are not in those areas, I wouldn't get too worried about it. They've sent out letters to our boss regarding our Jangyu co-worker because he was processed in Pusan Immigration and yet they haven't said boo about myself and my two other co-workers as we were processed through Masan Immigration. My boss is not the kind of guy to screw us over and so I'm not sure that an outright panic by all foreigners in all of Korea is in order just yet.

Just thought I'd add my two cents so that someone who is even less informed than I am in Ulsan or somewhere doesn't all of a sudden jump to the conclusion that they are being screwed over just because the majority of those who post here on Dave's are in Seoul and are facing a deadline. The deadline doesn't apply to us all, in my opinion. Very Happy

Normal whoring hours? 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

Thanks!

Seriously, normal working hours? M-F, 9-5? Korean working hours? Monday-Saturday, 5 am-11 pm?

Uh... we are wrong. I had the same perception, especially since no notice of anything related to it had come to my hagwon here on an island off the southeast coast in Gyeongsangnam province.

Then yesterday (the first day of my week off) I get a phone call from my director telling me I have to immediately fill out a form that needs to be processed by year end, it can't wait until next week. That form was this confirmation of degree form.

Last minute bali bali... it could happen to you too!

Moral: Fill it out asap to avoid a phone call from your director later in the week, maybe even on New Year's Eve.

Bali bali!

They are open at 9. Closed for lunch between 12-1... not sure what time they close up for the day. Presumably 5 but I'd go eariler just in case.

I forgot to do it, and am now out of the country. What are the consequences of me not doing it?

They're not open every Saturday! I went once and found out the hard way. There's some sort of method to their madness of what Saturdays they're open or closed (some deal like 3rd Saturday of the month they close or something like that) but I haven't figured it out yet. Best not leave it until this Saturday without calling ahead first to make sure they're open.

BTW, you'll go to some big empty room on the third floor. It only took 1 minute. Best to bring your ARC, passport and diploma along with your paper. The guy wanted to see my diploma. Many of my friends were not asked for theirs, but best to be safe.

and don't forget to give a special shoutout to all those teaching here in Korea with fake degrees:

THANK YOU!!!!

without you, I wouldn't have to waste my morning to rush out to immigration to go deal with something so meaningless (to those of us here legitmately).

Have a nice holiday, and hopefully a nice flight back to where you belong...

Ok, I went today:

1. This applies to every teacher in Korea. If not you "may be investigated and may not have your visa renewed."

2. Mokdong Immigration is open M-F, from 9-6 pm. You have to go there, can't go to the one by the Kyobo building.

3. They did ask to see my degree and alien card. They didn't ask for my passport.

4. You need to provide an address, telephone and fax number for your university on the form.

5. The girl you go to on the third floor speaks English. She loves me.
