Someone told me that you no longer need a university degree to teach english legally in South Korea, is that true? (yes I've been under a rock since I came home from good 'ol Daegu more than a year ago)

Yes you can do this legally. Come to Korea and marry the first K-girl you see.

F-2 Visa. Less immigration bullshit.

Even with a F-2 visa...you still need a degree to get a good teaching job...

But with an F-2 you can now legally teach privates, as long as you pay the taxes on your earnings; no degree needed for that.

True. I have a question..can you teach those privates in an office? Do you have to go to their houses?

Note: Do not come here to find a K-girl to marry..it is not worth it for her or you. If you don't have a degree then don't come because it will not be worth it.

Actually, even people with an F-2 have to verify their degree. I verfied my degree with a co-worker with an F-2. He asked the immigration officer, "Do people with an F-2 visa have to do this?" He replied, "Yes, all teachers in Korea must verify their degree."

E-2s and F-2s are in the same boat.

not alway true...

I have an f-2 and incheon immigration said that i did not have to verify my degree...sent me and a friend away without doing anything...

Scott I believe that was what you were told. However, what I said in my earlier post is also true. The immigration officer told my co-worker that the F-2 Visa didn't matter, and that he had to verify his degree like everybody else.

This would not be the first time something like this has hapened. l wonder what the policy is on the books.

I went to Mokdong to renew my F2 and then when upstairs to verify my degree. They militantly didn't want my form and sent me away.

So it would seem that F2 holders do not have to verify their degree. I was quite happy to but they didn't want it.

My 2 won worth.

Me too. They said they didn't want it. Perhaps you had an E2 first and still had one after you got the F2-1. I think your boss just wanted to be sure and said you had to go.
