Do I need a prescription from a Korean doctor to get brith control?
If not, what do I say, in Korea, to a pharmacist to my hands on some?
How much does it cost per month? |

I use Mercilon. Sounds like Mer shi loan in Korean. ITs in a pink box. Usually about 6000. No prescription necessary. Best birth control I have ever used, no side effects. |

You don't need a doctor's prescription here to get birth control pills. You might want to go to one to have things checked over first though. |

Minipills are available OTC. I believe you still need a prescription for tri-phasics, but I haven't tried those in a long time.
Has anyone done shots, the patch, or the ring in Korea? |

I use Mercilon too. It's easy to get and as the others have said, no, you don't need a prescription. I've had minimal side effects from time to time (some slight headaches and moodiness) but mostly it's treating me quite well. |

whatever you do don't buy your birth control at the local pharmacy unless you are married. |

The words, "Thank you kindly, but no thanks" are free.
Take a random look at the posts around here. No reason to think the quality of the sperm is any different among the non-posting expats. Just ask yourself, "If bc doesn't work, would I want to be saddled with the knowledge and responsibility of bringing this guy's progeny into the world?"
There are 'love shops' where you can get artificial stimulation that doesn't risk pregnancy. Think about it. |

well, i got the patch and i have two things to say:
1. it was very expensive (35,000/month)
2. it made me go crazy so i wasted 110,000 trying it out to find out it didn't work. (i stupidly bought 3 months worth)
use mercillon, it's not made in korea. if you are from canada, it's almost the same as mervillon. i called and asked before i came. |

When I left Korea last time I brought home like 25 packs for my sister and best friend because it was so cheap. I had no trouble. It was in my checked baggage. Went back to the states for a year and ended up buying mercilon off one of those illegal thai prescription sites because it was cheaper than my co-pay at the pharmacy. America blows! |

That's cheap compared to the US. And it's a godsend for those of us who are too distracted to remember to take a pill each day. I'm happy when I remember to put on pants before leaving the house... |

HUH?!! For women, or for both genders? Just curious. Never once in my life have I heard of anything like this. Have you been in one before? Wild...
Btw, some women don't always take birth control pills solely to prevent pregnancy. My friend has severe PMS, and she takes the pill (she's a virgin, as well). I've it taken for the same reason. Unfortunately, the pill doesn't work for everyone suffering from PMS. My 35 y/o never-married, childless former dentist (in Chicago) finally had a hysterectomy for PMS (and then some). Said it was the best thing she ever did for herself. |

Info for a woman: birth control in Korea?
Seeing as how you're most likely an ugly waegookin, I wouldn't worry about it. |
