I never got into any of these while I was living in filthy New Zealand, but now that I'm in Korea I've been given these strange lotions as gifts and I'm wondering how to use them. I also think it's about time I kept up with the game seeing as I'm 24 this year but my kids all gasp and proclaim that I'm in fact 34.
I have:
Aftershave
"Skin"
"Lotion"
I am almost definitely sure the lotion is Konglish for moisturizer. The "Skin" has the same viscosity and colour as water but is faintly scented and I'm not sure what it's called in English.
Anyone know what this stuff is and - more importantly - in which order I should put it on after I have a shower & shave? I do aftershave first after a shave (duh) then the skin then the moisturizer. Man I feel really lame asking this but none of them come with a manual, they're vaguey expensive and I don't wanna look like an already. |

you got the order right, at night just use skin first then lotion
in the daytime, you dont have to use the lotion all over your face, just where you need it, where its dry or else if you already have oily skin, might make you greasier and prone to spots |

After shave goes after the shaving. I don't know about the watery "skin tonic" or whatever it is, I have no experience of that. In the gym locker room one day the trainer was showing it to me. He splashed some on his face and offered to let me smell it. In friendly reply, I showed him my underarm deodorant (fresh from the importer in Namdaemun) and let him smell it. He was duly impressed. |

Oh, and moisturizer... put in on your hands while viewing porn. It'll reduce friction and chafing, making the experience so much more pleasant. |

What koreans call 'skin' is actually what we call a 'toner'. The main purpose of the toner is to balance the pH of your skin after you've washed it. Some soap can be more alkaline than others etc... Toner's also suppose to help with 'toning' the skin by cleaning any leftover dirt left in your pores after you wash your face and decreasing the size of the said pores at the same time. Most dermotologists think it's a load of codswallop, and it's just another marketing ploy. Toner's not an 'essential' part of skin regime unless you have really spotty, greasy skin in which case an astringent toner might help a little.
Now I personally think that if you're a bloke, you can save your money and altogether skip on the toner cos you have your aftershaves. For girls, it's just that little bit of luxry to have the three/four step skincare routine so I reccommend that you put your toner in a spritz bottle and put it in the fridge cos it's extra refreshing and also less chance of toner contamination.
Hope that's helped OP |

I know it may seem lame to have to use all the lotions and moisturizes etc.. but they really do help and if you live in one of the big cities of Korea your skin is constantly fighting off all the pollution in the air. As for me I recently got hooked on the goods the body shop offers. I use their shave cream, which has given me the best shaves I have every had, followed by their aftershave gel. Every morning I use their face wash during my shower and if I notice any dry spots on my skin I put a little of their moisturizer on them. This system works really well for me even though I thought I would never have to do all of this but as you get older it is necessary, or that is atleast is what the dudes from que*r eye say.
Honestly not que*r,

For this who are interested, at a Hanamart I found some vegan, not-tested-on-animals moisturizer. It was overpriced but, that's what you get when you're a vegetarian/vegan. |

THANKS! I was imagining giant skin care factories next to abortion clinics, with the freshly aborted fetuses peeled and pureed into "skin". What a stupid name, is it liquid skin in a bottle?
Sorry for those who were eating while reading this, you should know better than eating at a keyboard anyway~~ |

Just want to add that a student (or rather his Mom) bought me 'Prince' shaving cream from the Lush store in CO-EX. Best shave I've ever had. Really makes a smooth shave and moisturizes really well.
The downside? It's 18,000 won for a small tub which would maybe last 2 months if used sparingly. I got another tub from my wife for Xmas.
I think it's worth it. Plus, I don't want to be a slave to the Gillette corporation. |

After shave goes in your coffee in the morning.
Lotion goes in your hair after the shower.
Toner goes well on your toast.
Best of luck. |

Toner has other functions for women.
1. it reduces the pores. After you've washed your face with warm water, your pores naturally enlarge, and the toner closes them back up and thus they are less prone to trapping dirt..
2. it's supposed to get rid of any last traces of make up that your cleanser hasn't managed to get rid of. |
