I don't much like a good chunk of the kids I teach, but only 2 kids have forced me to feel 'hatred' towards them. And these 2 kids are a frwaking nightmare.
I never had a really super bad experience. Just a lot of little crap that drives me nuts. |
I felt that way at my hogwan job, but even there, there were a lot of wonderful and thoughtful kids. Now I don't have any students I hate. |

I've had very few problem students in Korea, over the years. I can honestly say I love and care for each and every one of my students.
When I first lived in Korea, back in '84, teaching high school, the old Korean saying of " A student shouldn't even step on a teacher's shadow" was still in full-force. I would walk down a hall and students would come to a halt, bow, and not pull up until I walked past (as they did to all teachers). Nowadays, it's probably fortunate if teachers don't get bowled over by them as they rush to this place or that. Still, the uni students I have are very respectful and sincerely interested in learning (Interestingly, many of their parents are probably the same generation as the h.s. students I taught over two decades ago).
