Before I get to the problem, let me say that I went to the computer store in Yongsan where I bought it, and was told that when the CPU overheats in a small case these things happen; he did not think it was the case with me as he was the one who built the computer.

Ok, about a week after I bought it I was playing a game and everything froze, so I re-booted and the boot-up screen froze at the initial specs.
So, I re-booted again and it hung at the same screen for a while and then did a IDE check and said that I needed my system disk. I do what it asks and, but did not install XP. After another bootup everything was fine for about 2 minutes and then the mouse froze. "Here we go again." I thought, did another re-boot and it hung at the screen. So I take it to wher it was built, and you what happened there.
I bring it home and everything was going great for 3 days, and then on the night of the 3rd day it started again.
It is now the following day and it is running fine, which makes me think that what I was initially told may be true.
Was he right? Could it be something else? If so, what?
I want to bring it back but am afraid of the same old song and dance.

So you're saying it works fine until it gets hot and overheats, then shuts down?

No, I'm saying that I was told by the person who built it that this can happen
if the CPU over heats.
Anyway, I went on the net and found that there are many reasons why this happens, so I'm following some of the advice.

ummm no dude, your pc should not shut down.. and your cpu should not over heat..
if I was you I would ask them to change your mother board!
to a different brand ASUS or AOPEN ..

your pc should be cool. should never over heat and freeze the pc guy is an idiot!

if you can find anyone, i strongly recommend that you try the same system on someone elses Power Supply Unit, like 400 or above. Had the same problem, it was PS. If you can't get a friend to do it, maybe recommend it to the shop guy to do that. anyways it's hard for me to explain it further on message boards.

Update:
Yesterday (Sunday) I was on the computer and it happened again, so I called the computer guy and no answer; I had thought so as it was a holiday.
Anyway, I re-boot the machine and get a message that there is no system disc. I re-boot again, and get the same message so I put in the disc and re-install XP and everything was fine until re-booted as requested by Avast.
At that point I get the same message again and decided to install another XP I have.
As I was installing it I realized that I did not have the serial number and I left the computer on the input screen while I searched the net on my laptop for a crack. Well, after a good 6 hours of trying cracks, giving up, doing other things around the house, trying again I finally found a crack that worked and continued installation. After the installation I installed various things and re-booted numerous times as per instructions and all was great.
I wake up today and things were fine, but then the mouse froze again I re-boot, did some things, it froze again.
Since re-booting yet again I've checked my e-mail and am now writing this.

Now I'm wondering what it could be:
PS?
Motherboard?
OS?
Hardware conflicts? Device manager shows none

I ask this because I know that computer guy will say that the hardware is fine (he built it) and will run a scan and re-install XP. This is what he did last time I brought it in.
