I just need some standard cotton men's underwear like fruit of the loom or hanes, tube socks for regular sports and daily use, don't need any designer labels just the basic stuff that's tuff and lasts awhile -- what we're used to. That kind of stuff. Amazon.com and some others don't allow int'l shipment, anyone know of an online company that does? (P.S. I am not near civilization for the time).

http://www.jcpenny.com

But international shipping is quite pricey if you're just buying some undies. You'd probably be better off having someone at home shipping them to you. If that's not an option, by all means try J. C. Penny's.

I use JCPenny for buying my clothes...the shipping is pricey if you go with quick shipping. There are options. What is pricey also depends on how much you order. I think on like $300-400 in clothes I pay about $50 in shipping.

There are others out there, but they are picky on where they ship too. I have probably used or tried to use most online clothing retailers...jcpenny is the best.

Mr. Pink,
Do you get hit with customs tax for a purchase of that price?

I've had orders of around $200 come through without a problem, but it might depend on where you are.

i ordered a hell of a lot of clothes from land's end which ships
to korea.

good news--my order came in about a week.

bad news-$100 shipping and 20% import tax on total cost.

i actually thought the $100 shipping cost was reasonable given
the quick turnaround but i didn't know about the import tax--that sucked.

I've always kept my Land's End orders in the under-US$200 range and paid no import tax nor customs. You have to balance out how breaking up bigger orders will increase the shipping, though. (Although I'd much rather pay someone for shipping than pay the Korean government for customs!)

I order most of my clothes on line, and have done so for years. My two favorites are eddiebauer.com and jcpenny.com.

Get on their email mailing lists, and they will notify you of sales. Also, Eddie Bauer often offers free shipping, and it applies to international orders. They ship fast...less than a week.

For JCPenny you can use a slow shipping method, and the cost is fairly good. The goods take 4-5 weeks to arrive.

I generally keep my orders between 100 and 125US, and I have never paid customs.

I'm not sure how much you save by having relatives ship to you. Shipping costs from most countries to Korea are fairly pricy. See if you can find out the weight and get an estimate before you assume that it will be cheaper for a friend or family member to ship.

Happy shopping.

just get the folks to buy a few packs at Target and put them in a global priority envelope. It'll cost $9 for now to ship it (goes up next week) and take a week

Thanks for the awesome link, Flash!

I'd had such trouble looking for winter shoes around the city.
