After six months a month notice or, in lieu of that, one month's salary is owing. That's law.

Is this true? I did seven months, got a few days' notice, to which I complied, but did not think any severance was due. Not only that the boss did burn me on trumped up expenses.... |

I'm at the end of year 2, on my 3rd job, and looking set to finish a contract for the first time, wow.
My school is organised, pays on time without fail, has a proper curriculum, etc etc. They want me to renew, but working saturdays is just too much.
Which is why I'll be scouting for a new job soon. I'm a little nervous about it as experience has shown each school seems to have at least one major drawback, -swings and roundabouts I guess. |

| Wow, this thread was life affirming. After 2 jobs in 10 months, I went to China to get my CELTA and then came home to get a copy of my teaching license (I want to have something to show for my time in Harlem.) Now I'm looking to take the next step, either a masters or a decent job. I'm just glad I wasn't alone in getting my arse kicked in ROK. Anyone on this thread wanna post an update of their situation? |

Double "yes". If you have to ask then you know the answer. |

There are a good many of us who should give up on Korea, myself included. The problem is go where..........?
I have a bank account here, I know some Korean, I know sort of how things work here..........
I would have to start from scratch in a new country.
I am not prepared to work for nothing in a 3rd world country, just cause it's warm. I've done my time working for peanuts in Mexico. I really don't want to go back to that. |
