yeah - I'm a big fan.
I used to prefer K1 but with the passing of Andy Hug a few years ago and with Hunt and Ernesto not making an impact in that arena I've turned to Pride.
Those Pride guys are seriously scary - Silva looks like he was born with the intent to hurt. I think that Areno will lose the rematch because Silva with motives of revenge will be to much to fathom.
The other two fights - well, they could go either way.
I kinda wished that Quintin Jackson was going to fight - off camera he is a true showman and he always entertains> |

Yeah, rampage is the man. I got the chance to meet him at a show in Memphis TN, about 2 years ago. He was drinking red bull and vodka, a real funny guy. Also, on new years in pride cro-cop is fighting mark hunt, two former k-1 guys. should be a hellofa fight. |

Seems like Andy was shot. I could be mistaken though. I'll find out for sure. |

Andy Hug died of Leukemia at the young age of 34. This was in 2000. |

I watched the Pride event on Saturday. I am a big fan of Wanderlei Silva but I thought Arrona won that fight (he did too, lol). Silva is a big star in Japan and there is a lot invested in him in terms of video game characters and action figures so I wonder if the judges were biased or influenced by Pride ownership in some way.
I am disappointed by Crocop's loss, not that I disagree with it. I felt he got in all the biggest blows in the match but Hunt delivered consistent damage. I don't know how Crocop can beat out fighters with wrestling backgrounds like Mark Coleman, Josh Barnett and even Kevin Randleman who can all force him to fight on the ground for most of a match, and then lose to Mark Hunt in an almost fully standup fight - which is supposed to be Crocop's strength.
Alexandr Emelianenko - great fighter and he looks like a really hard dude, like he has gone through some really tough times back in Russia. I can envision an Alexandr versus Fedor fight sometime but it might be like a Venus and Serena matchup - both want to win but neither really want to fight/play each other.
I always enjoy watching Charles "Crazy Horse" Bennett's fights. He's a very aggressive fighter and I get a kick out of his antics. The other guy was very tall for the weight class and didn't seem physically prepared enough to fight in Pride. I know there's been Gracie family fighters in the past with a similar build but that was a time when fighters just didn't know how to defend or counter their moves. |

As for cro-cop, I just think that mark hunt is a better stand up fighter than he is. He definately has a better chin to take the high kick than most people. Cro-cop dominates wrestlers, because he has developed the best take down defense in the game. |
