Thanks for the link. You know I have been away from Canada for so long that I think it would be almost irresponsible to vote. Other than what is going on in my 82 year old Dad's life (he still rocks) I couldn't care less.

You know I find that sad. Here's a country you were born and raised and presunably educated in and you have a job in Korea because you qualify as a Canadian born and educated citizen. And believe it or not, chances are great that you'll move back 1 day whether the Korean gravy train ends or family responsibilities bring you back or you want to get a piece of that social wekfare system back that you paid into or you want full medical insurance coverage or whatever.
The point is, it really raises my hackles when someone says "I don't care for my country which gave me a chance to do and be whatever I want" And now you're gone, you don't care. I just really feel that's a shame.
I just finished working out of Canada almost 10 years, 4 in Korea and I am absolutely thrilled to be back in my home country. The govt is still as screwed up as ever but man, the people are all great. The economy is sizzling, the women look hotter than ever and after going to an NHL game last night, I remember why it's the greatest game in the world. Millions of people would love to emigrate here and you say you couldn't care less about Canada. I'm not trying to ne confrontational with you but I just can't possibly imagine how you could ever get to that state. Well the good news is that your father is in a country that takes care of its elderly. |

Who care about the election? Another Eastern Canadian French lover will just end up in power screwing the West over again and again. It is at the point in Canada that we really don't see any reason to vote...a choice between equals (liars and thieves). |

Everyone's a victim, right? Nobody gets their fair share, eh? Give me a break. It's almost as if your post was written by a Quebec seperatist.

I'd take an Eastern-Canadian French-humper over one of the Creationist morons the Reform/CCRAP/Alliance/Conservatives always rolled out with.
Oh by the way, I'm from Alberta. I'd like to think nobody's more annoyed with religious fundamentals trying to get into politics than my fellow Albertans (but let's not drag the US into this). |

Voting is irrational.
Spend your time with an activity that will actually impact your life, like sleeping.
Your vote, out of over 10 million, does not matter. Please stop speaking of voting as if it provides some mystic meaning. |

I'd like to think voting matters but this comment resonates with me. In all my years in Canada I voted every opportunity I was given & never once picked a winner. I made researched, balanced, & hopeful decisions every time. Progressive politics is an oxymoron. Democracy (anywhere) is an exercise in the most smoothly advertised lies. But its what we're saddled with & theres inherent danger if thinking people all drop out.
Its a weak system. Better idea needed. I'm all for philosopher kings, but their sons usually turn out to be idiots.
Meanwhile, as a longterm expat, I dont feel I should have any say anyway so I stopped voting. |

I hope not. But it may happen. Count me as a western separatist. So sue me.
I'm not voting this time because I don't live there anymore and don't very much want to return. But if I did I would certainly get involved.

I've no intention of returning to Canada to live for a very very long time - decades, not just years.
Why should I have any right to inflict my political opinions by ballot on a country where I don't live? |

Hack......................what I find sad is how you tar, feather and judge me in a few quick key strokes. I don't understand why you think that someone who does not live in the country should vote on who should govern. Yes, I may go back some day, and if and when I do then I will start voting again. That to me is responsible behavior.

There are several seats in Canada that are won every election by a few votes, such as Western Arctic the last time around. If you happen to live in one of those ridings, your votes could determine who becomes the next PM.
You never know. |

Fine -you find someone sad who finds a Canadian sad who doesn't give a crap about Canada. Maybe I read it wrong but that's what I read here

If that was just directed towards the election, then I understand and apologize although if you are ever thinking of coming back, I still think you should vote. I have just seen so many Canadians on this board crap on Canada now that they live in Korea that I thought you were another. And if you are crapping on Canada then I stand by what I said. |

I could register for Montreal Centre-Ville or Fraser Valley West, one of which the Reform/Tories will win with 75% and the other of which the Liberals will. Forgive my patriotic irresponsibility. |
