Well it seems to me like a large majority of English teachers in Korea have not even heard or received anything regarding this so called 'verification' of degree.

Down here in Changwon we haven't even been told about the whole thing yet and so I'm doubting the deadline is Dec. 30th for all foreign teachers in the country. Maybe for Seoul and Busan, but certainly not for everyone.

I am going next week to masan immigration just in case....

You know that if something happens down the line, Masan immigration will deny it and say it wasn't our fault, you should have known and then you will be in some trouble...

Not saying it will happen but you never know, ignorance isn't much of an excuse in this country.....

Also gives me a chance to go to walmart Smile

Wow! What a coincidence...got called into the office today because the wongjangnim wanted to tell me and my other co-worker that she had received a letter from immigration stating that we have to go to immigration before the 31st December to 'verify' our degrees Rolling Eyes
What a ridiculous waste of time. On the form we have to fill in, they require our University's contact address and phone number. Now wouldn't it make more sense to just call up the University directly and check with the registrar to ensure that we actually obtained our degrees legally? Of course that would be too logical...

Yes, every E-2 visa holder in Korea must do it by December 31st. Of course, if I had not asked my employer about it, I would have never got the forms. It seems that they had them but conveniently forget about them. So, went to immigration and they have a sign that states that you have to do it or else you will be denied a visa next time you visit them for that purpose. It appears that a lot of people are going to be in for a shock when they visit immigration in the future to get their visas. Be proactive, guys.

I haven't done it.

Neither have the other 8 foreigners at my hagwon.

My boss called after I asked him about it and he was told by immigration we don't have to do it until our next Visa application. That was Jan 2nd.

I don't know what to believe frankly as my Korean wife called immi and was told I should do it as soon as possible. That was on Jan 2nd too!!!

Y'know, immigration have my phone number, my address, my e-mail and my work address and phone number. Yet, as far as I know, they didn't contact me in any way about this.

I never received notice from the immigration office or from my director. Can this be done at the Suwon Immigration office?

I'm here in Daejeon, and my Visa is an E-1. My university has said nothing.

I haven't heard anything about it out here. I'll see what happens when I renew my contract in a couple months.
