|

I have been offered a job working for CAL-TEX in Yeosu and I have seen pictures of it on thier website, but I can't really get a handle on where it is in relation to the city. I am concerned because I will live at the plant housing and be the only foreigner working there. I am afraid I might go nuts if I am too far away from the outside world. Any help out there? |

The Cal-Tex refinery is just off the main highway linking Yeosu and Suncheon, about equi-distant from both cities. In other words it is in the boonies.
The apartment facilities are top notch though. Really nice. Believe it or not but the workers there make the highest salaries for "blue collar" work in the nation. They pull in between 3 million and 5 million a month just for workers.
One bit of caution. I spoke to a teacher who works at an elementary school nearby she told me that none of the teachers could get plants to grow in their classrooms. Aparently the air quality is really bad.
But they do have nice apartments. You will enjoy it if you live. |

Thank you so much. Actually, I was wondering about the air quality. I think the plant project said it all. I really appreciate the info. |

This is funny. Just tonight, I shared drinks with a guy at Polly's in Itaewon. He was from San Francisco living in Kangnam, and I swear he said he works for that same place. He was 50-something and had greying hair. He said he is here for about 2 years as they build some plant in Yeosu or something.
Interesting. |
