Thats an interesting take Matko.
Of course some Korean students in Canada run to the community and don't mix during their stay.
However, its hard to really fix the proportion of those that do.
My ex-roomate from korea now teaches ESL in Toronto and he has quite a few Korean students. Most of them live in the korean community but mix a lot with other ethnic groups.
I don't know, I suppose it depends. |

Why? Like everything else here: because their mommy says they should. |

Why?
Because Koreans are pulled between 2 posts.
1. mistrust and dislike of foreigners
2. the need to conform to the more powerful .
So they love learning the language of the powerful , but resent the powerful ones in their midst. |

Trinny, had you not mentioned it I'd never have guessed you're not a native English speaker. You write much better than many native speaking teachers who post on this site.
Whatever you're doing, keep doing it. |

Thank you lemon.
You will be disappointed to hear me speak English though. The typical Korean accent... |

Nothing wrong with a Korean accent...
at least, it's better than an American accent! |
