I'm a big believer in trying not to sit next to attractive women out of fear people will think I'm doing it because I'm some byun tae foreigner. Today the only two open seats were:
a) next to a leggy 20something woman in a short skirt and very enticing patterned black nylons
b) next to your sweet innocent lone school girl, they very type of girl us ESL teachers are preying upon, per most SBS news reports.
I ended up choosing "a". |

If you felt hesitant about the seating choice and its consequences....you should have chosen option c: standing. |

I would have chosen to sit across from A, where I could get a good view. |

I did this just today. To be honest, didn't take that much thought. |

Oh yeah that's the other subway stress. "Am I just sitting across from her to check out her legs?" |

Sit next to : Koreans think
1)Another foreigner : "These foreigners all stick together and don't want to know us".
2)Homeless person : "Foreigners and homeless people belong in the same basic grouping together."
3) Wacko: "Foreigners and homeless are in a similar classification"
4) Beautiful woman: "foreigners are perverts trying to corrupt and steal our women".
5)Child : "foreigners are peds'.
6) On your own: "Foreigners are lonely wangtas".
7) Opposite hot woman " Foreigners are voyeuristic perverts".
seatful of older ajjoshi's: "foreigners have no respect for seniority".
Hmm..wonder if they really think that. Seems like it sometimes though. |

I sit in the first seat I find, regardless of who is next too me. If anyone objects to my presence they can sit on my face. I do respect elders enough to relinquish my seat for them. |

My eyes became locked in a stare-down with a hot young Korean university student last month. I caught her peeking, and didn't look away. We stared directly into each other's eyes for at minimum a good five seconds, which is a darned long time! Then she turned away and smiled. She was standing over me at the time, holding on to the handle.
Wow. |

Why is an admitted Canadian homosexual concerned with hot young Korean women? |

I really don't like you but I'll admit you did a great job of summing up the "oh god, what will people think?" paranoia that goes through my mind when trying to choose a seat. Well done. I still don't like you |

Once I was on a train when a cub scout troop (or something) came on the train. They were laughing and having a good time... everybody had to stand because the train was full. Eventually one of the kids found himself near the sleeping drunk who was sitting down. That asshole started yelling and screaming at them for being too close to him. The kids shied back and shut up. Naturally the scoutmasters didn't say anything. So what I did was, I took the now empty space immediately in front of the drunk guy, like inches from his face. Sort of a human shield thing, or you could see it as my taking revenge on the jerk. He didn't say anything. No Koreans thanked me but I hope some of them were amused in their hearts. |
